I genuinely want to know who at SEGA was responsible for casting a rage baiting political YouTuber as the English voice for one of their most notorious characters.
Fans of the Yakuza franchise are justifiably enraged after gameplay footage of the English dub of Like a Dragon Gaiden surfaced online depicting a karaoke performance.
Some dipshit at SEGA decided to cast Yong Yea, a political YouTuber who has an extremely limited casting history, with the Korean-American YouTuber having minor roles in localized anime dubbing alongside additional voice roles in mostly Chinese developed video games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Lost Ark.
YongYea finally has his major break however, his first major role, with SEGA opting to replace the English voice behind Kazuma Kiryu from Darryl Kurylo to the YouTuber in question. A legitimate established actor replaced by a Korean-American political YouTuber with no actual experience in professional voice acting has been given a major role in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Want a drinking challenge? Take a shot every time the voice cracks.
Turns out everything could go wrong, with the karaoke clip garnering a massive flurry of hateful responses, criticizing and mocking the wannabe voice actor for his hilariously awful performance of “Judgement”, a staple song of the Yakuza franchise and not even excessive autotune could salvage it.
The Yakuza fanbase is in universal agreement, Yong Yea is the dragon of dogshit voice acting, with his role of Kiryu in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth making the original Yakuza dubbing look like gold by comparison.
His horrid performance is a reassurance that the only true way of playing Japanese games in western regions is with authentic Japanese audio and English subtitles which are still subject to scrutiny and malicious misinterpretation.
Twitter is merely a flurry of hatred, mocking Yong Yea and criticizing his portrayal. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth canonically takes place several years after the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kazuma Kiryu is now supposed to be a middle aged man suffering from a severe illness which apparently turns out to be cancer.
Yong Yea’s role is hardly fitting of either a badass gangster or a middle aged man, he sounds effluent and young.
Which is actually funny considering how Yong Yea himself criticized Chris Pratt as Mario for “sounding like Chris Pratt”, considering how Yong Yea’s acting merely sounds like Yong Yea reciting his script with little care or consideration.
But now we know the real reason as to how Kiryu got cancer in the first place, and contrary to popular belief it wasn’t decades of cigarette consumption but rather he was casted by a talentless hack YouTuber.
Here’s a lovely comparison between Yong Yea and Darryl Kurylo.
I’m just being petty now and I don’t really give a damn, I have genuinely heard several AI musical covers that are more authentic and true to life than Yong Yea’s acting, such as this amazing cover of Skillet’s “Monster” done entirely by COD Zombies.
Or how about this AI cover of Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” by Neco Arc, or Disturbed Decadence, Crazy Frog, Bullet for My Valentine’s Hand of Blood and even Snake Eater.
I didn’t know that cancer was contagious until I heard Yong Yea sing.
In typical fashion much akin to how ProZD cried like a little bitch after suffering the consequences of his own actions demanding voice acting roles only be casted by racially authentic individuals and then being denied character roles because he’s of Asian descent.
Yong Yea tried to downplay the so called “critics” or as I prefer to call them, people who were given god’s gift of hearing, by proclaiming that he absolutely didn’t get casted in such a crucial role because of his status as a YouTuber, with well over 1.2 million subscribers, rather Yong Yea decided to be a narcissistic piece of shit by having the audacity to state that he “earned” the role of Kiryu.
I guess all other applicants suddenly got ill during auditions, perhaps they heard Yong Yea rehearsing and had to make a swift exit to avoid hurling all over the place.
But of course, the man sponsored by Soylent couldn’t possibly handle criticism of the fanbase he has insulted with his “acting”, so naturally the little weasel has been on a tirade of blocking individuals on Twitter who are making fun of him.
But that’s okay, those blocked by Yong Yea are simply taking to Twitter to share their latest accolade, hopefully I myself will be blocked by this piece of shit once this article goes live.
I genuinely cannot wait for artificial intelligence to advance to the point where “voice actors” such as Yong Yea become entirely redundant, why listen to filth who genuinely cannot act when an AI interpretation with quite literally any voice happens to be more immersive and realistic, just ask the folks who downloaded the Ada Wong AI Vocal mod for Resident Evil 4’s remake.
