What would you get if you combined 4chan, MDMA and Himouto! Umaru-chan? From the creators of the psychotic hit “NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD” comes a rhythm game that seeks to answer a question no one is asking.
Publisher and developer WSS Playground, co-publisher Alliance Arts, and co-developer WHO YOU have announced Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis, a new music rhythm game designed to obliterate your senses and corrupt your mind.
Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis is a musical rhythm game that follows the story of “Qtie” a psychotic hikikomori girl, otherwise known as a “shut-in” who becomes obsessed with denpa songs. Her enthusiastic anonymous online postings of quirky, cute stories corrupt the world, making everyone dizzy.
With the game’s focus on “denpa songs,” the playable tracks are filled with related elements, including songs performed by KOTOKO, one of the singers from “INTERNET OVERDOSE.” According to an official post on Twitter, one of the songs featured will be “Sakuranbo Kiss.”
In addition to Qtie, the game will feature her beloved two-dimensional character “Yunyun.” This character is described as a devil who looks like an angel and appears to talk to Qtie through the screen. The actual situation is unclear; it’s like to be Qtie’s delusional imagination.
WSS Playground took social media by storm with their unexpected hit, NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD, which gained immense attention and popularity thanks to various VTubers.
This trend is likely to continue with their new release, featuring the meta appeal of a cute, sperg girl spreading her nonsensical posts across the internet, combined with the allure of a musical rhythm game.
With over 30 different endings and a psychotic theme similar to their previous title, focusing on cute girls and severe mental illness, this game is poised for success. I’m almost certain this game will receive a similar positive reception and promotion from VTubers when it launches on PC via Steam later this year.
