While big-budget Western AAA games continue to struggle in the open market, smaller developers are finding success. KIWIWALKS have announced that their alchemy RPG, WitchSpring R, has achieved an impressive $5 million in global sales.
KIWIWALKS announced that WitchSpring R has surpassed $5 Million in total sales. This figure obviously includes the sales from its original PC release on September 26th, 2023, where it garnered an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with a 96% approval from over 4,599 reviews.
However it’s important to note that the game was only just recently released on modern home console systems less than a week ago on August 29th. WitchSpring R is a remake of the original Witch Spring mobile game, rebuilt from the ground up for modern platforms with significant changes.
The story-driven RPG WitchSpring R, which blends elements of collecting, simulation, and turn-based combat, follows the journey of a young witch named Pieberry. It was released less than a week ago on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 and has now surpassed $5 million in combined sales.
Earlier in May, the PC version sold 100,000 copies on Steam. The game has been praised for its engaging, classic JRPG-style story and its balanced mix of deep and accessible RPG mechanics, standing out amidst the often criticized Western AAA offerings that deliver nothing except disappointment in a thick coating of ESG political nonsense.
