On June 7, WakuWaku Games released the demo for the exploration-based action game “Witchroid Vania: A Magical Girl’s Fantastical Adventures,” developed by Turkey Games, on Steam.
The demo release coincides with the “Steam Next Fest: June 2024 Edition,” starting on Monday, June 10, allowing players to experience the game up to the “Orc Forest” area. The full game is planned for release later in 2024, though this is up for debate.
“Witchroid Vania: A Magical Girl’s Fantastical Adventures” follows Lily, a young apprentice sorceress, as she travels the world for her training.
The game features basic pixel artwork and is centered around four different elements of magic, being fire, ice, wind, and lightning. Each element of magic has three levels of spells, all with unique characteristics even within the demo. Players can set and switch between up to three spells simultaneously.
The game also includes auxiliary magic such as underwater breathing and missile guard, and a mini dragon companion that aids in movement and combat. The dragon can learn new skills and become stronger by obtaining training books.
In the demo, players can explore up to the early-stage map “Orc Forest.” According to Turkey Games, the maps in the demo represent about 7 out of 220 total locations, suggesting a much larger volume for the full version, which supports the English language.
The game’s developer, Turkey, shares updates on the game’s progress on their Twitter account by the handle of @tarkr18. If you’ve enjoyed the demo, you’d be wise to follow them for more information of Witchroid Vania: A Magical Girl’s Fantastical Adventures as its made available.
