Cygames initially unveiled the party game based upon the Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise, “Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Nekketsu Hachamecha Dai Kansha-sai!” during a Nintendo Direct on June 21st. Now, the game has been given an official release date.
The August 30th release date was revealed in a fresh promotional video for the upcoming game, which is being developed by Arc System Works.
While ArcSys is a company you should generally avoid, considering the casual nature of the game and its source material, there should be no concerns about agendas aimed at the Western demographic or any form of censorship.
Within the game, the adorable Uma Musume horse girls are depicted in charming pixel art, participating in a range of lively party games. These include Basket-Stealing Stakes (Blazing Baskets), Uma Dodge Championship (Dodgeball Demolition), Competitive Eating Derby (Gourmet Gauntlet), and Grand Steeplechase (Hurtling Hurdles).
“Umamusume Pretty Derby: Nekketsu Hachamecha Dai Kansha-sai!” is a vibrant casual action game that promises fun for both solo adventurers and multiplayer enthusiasts. Up to four players can engage in thrilling battles, controlling any one of 20 beloved pixelated horse girls from renowned teams like Team Spica and Team Rigil.
Additionally, fans can even play as other charming characters from Tracen Academy, including the spirited Matikanefukukitaru.
Players will have the option to customize rooms for their horse girls using furniture bought with in-game currency, it’s a minor addition but if it makes the game feel all that more engaging I’m all for it.
Unfortunately, there have been no announcements regarding an English release, so this is primarily for Japanese-speaking fans of the series. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and surprisingly, PC via Steam. While it’s possible that it may feature cross-play support, there have been no mentions of such functionality thus far.
The standard physical edition of the game includes stickers and an exclusive in-game item set. For a more comprehensive experience, the Deluxe Box edition offers additional content like DLC team sets, the Hachauma Block Figure Set, the Hachauma Special Pouch, and the Hachauma Art Works book. However, this deluxe package comes at a price of ¥8,800 Yen (~$86 USD).
