Publisher Alliance Arts and developer Unknown X have unveiled a new trailer for the officially licensed Touhou Project derivative game, Marisa of Liartop Mountain.
The minute-long trailer confirms an updated 2025 release window for the tabletop-style adventure RPG, which is set to launch on PC via Steam. When it was originally announced the game was slated for a vague 2024 release, which has since been postponed.
Marisa of Liartop Mountain is an adventure role-playing game that takes players into a fantastical world of exploration, where they assume the role of fan-favorite youkai racist, Reimu Hakurei.
In this journey, Reimu sets out to find the recently vanished Marisa Kirisame, exploring a mountain of books filled with mysteries and deception.
The game’s story unfolds through player choices and dice rolls, offering an authentic tabletop RPG experience where every decision shapes the outcome of the adventure.
Inspired by classic gamebooks, Marisa of Liartop Mountain offers players a richly imaginative experience with flexible choices that make each playthrough a truly unique journey. Monster battles are decided by dice rolls, creating a tactile, tabletop-like feel that pushes beyond the expectations of a traditional RPG.
The adventure begins when Marisa discovers a mysterious book deep within a library. After she picks it up, she vanishes, and by the next morning, a new mountain has appeared in Gensokyo.
As an officially licensed Touhou Project derivative, this game brings original interpretations to the beloved universe. Players will rely on both strategy and dice to craft their own stories in this fantastical world when the game launches next year.
