Despite the recent doxing scare that saw the creator of the controversial “Coffin of Andy and Leyley” game, Nemlei, to go into hiding, both Nemlei and Kit9 have addressed certain matters via a devlog entry for the game on its Steam store.
For those unaware, both Nemlei and fans of their game “The Coffin of Andy and Leyley” faced incidents of doxxing orchestrated by neckbeard “antis” due to their involvement in the game’s community, or rather their failure to outright condemn the game which features troubling themes.
The source of the drama stems from the game’s horror themes, encompassing elements like cannibalism and incest. Critics assert that the game is accused of romanticizing these controversial themes and therefore anyone in support of the game apparently deserves to have their private information freely accessible on the internet.
While we’ve delved extensively into the game previously, it’s worth noting that the horror title doesn’t explicitly portray incestuous relationships. Instead, the notion of incest seems to be more of a potential outcome, offering a glimpse into what the deteriorating relationship between Andy and Leyley could become if things persist in their current state.
But these delusional nutcases who deem themselves to be doing “good work” by doxing others clearly don’t care about that, they simply see “incest” and become enraged, rather than ignoring the game outright because quite clearly they are not the target audience, rather they feel as if they should do a bit of activism rather than simply ignoring the game.
Similar instances happens with anime and manga all the time, lemmings become outraged over some mundane and typical bullshit that stems from Japan, rather than simply adverting their eyes and looking away because they are not the target demographic for erotic / ecchi material, they cry throw a tantrum and demand it be censored / banned anyway.
Although Nemlei didn’t explicitly mention “incest” in their developer log, the blog post commenced with an image of Ashley engaging with green and pink stuffed bunnies, simulating a kiss as a perturbed Andy observes. This introduction laid the groundwork for the subsequent discussion in the post, where Nemlei broadly addressed the game’s dark subject matter and themes.
Regardless, Nemlei has chosen to speak out via publishers Kit9 as a proxy, with the latest dev log glossing over the future of the game which thankfully will continue as planned.
And for all the skeptics out there, the dark, messed up stuff in this HORROR game is here to stay, with Nemlei proclaiming in a Q&A fashion that the next episode for The Coffin of Andy and Leyley will release sometime in 2024, with the developer doubling down on their vision for the game by stating their refusal to “tone it down”.
Merchandise will also be made available at a later date, most likely featuring artwork depictions of characters Andy and Leyley, this will without a doubt piss off the “mentally stable” crowd of doxxing advocates, no doubt the desire to push merchandise has otherwise stemmed from the fact a singular developer making games inside of RPG Maker has recently become the main attraction to controversy over the past couple of months, with antis and supporters from both sides having hilarious fights on social media, further promoting the game thanks to what’s called the Streisand effect.
Either way, look forward to more Coffin of Andy and Leyley alongside salty tears of emotionally disturbed individuals throwing more tantrums on Twitter come 2024.
