It’s no Christmas dinner but sipping on localizer tears will surely suffice.
I’ve said it before several times over but it simply cannot be said enough, Japanese to English “localizers” should be doing their goddamn job of TRANSLATING the source material from one language to the other, not to interject their own political views and incorporate bullshit western lingo, slang or jokes simply out of convenience, or rather out of spite for the source material itself.
Just a couple of days ago we reported on how The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga was returning from its hiatus, and with its return it would be modified by Mantra to incorporate day one localized English releases utilizing their “Mantra Engine” artificial intelligence for the translations.
Honestly, the concept of machine translations are inherently flawed, in due time they could be the ideal solution for Japanese content creators both large and small, I am willing to sacrifice a little accuracy during the initial phases so long as it means that supposedly professional localizers who spend their time purposefully subverting their source material under the guise and protection of unions as an affront to actual audiences who simply wish to consume Japanese material in their own native language without retarded jokes or progressive themes inserted into the mix.
It’s not that fucking complicated.
Their job is to TRANSLATE, not to rewrite, not to go off goddamn script, they are paid to translate from Japanese to English and yet they seemingly refuse to do even that because these feminist arrogant assholes feel entitled, they hold the power to destroy the material you hold dear and by god are they going to wave their cock around and fuel your rage.
Regardless, The Ancient Magus’ Bride’s return from hiatus marks a milestone in Japanese publication outfits finally taking a stand against the progressive plague that has cost them dearly in terms of localized sales due to poor oversight and the complete abolishment of its supposed “translation”, go see Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising for the latest in “lolcow-ization” which features references to Dora the Explorer alongside subtle anti-White remarks.
Though of course the push towards using AI translations could just very well be a cost cutting procedure, and I am totally fine with that, whatever it takes to get pricks like Katrina Leonoudakis out of the industry I’m all for, however her alongside many other “prominent” figureheads in the localization community are outraged over the announcement of The Ancient Magus’ Bride incorporating day one AI translations.
And as a surprise to nobody, the obese feminist herself was most vocal about the prospect of being replaced by machine learning algorithms, citing how artificial intelligence isn’t “accurate” and that translators as a whole are “underpaid”, which apparently isn’t the case considering how prominent Katrina is when it comes to the sort of work that she has done over the years, from anime with Crunchyroll to games as large as the Persona franchise, you name it and she has done it.
If they’re so critically underpaid why are so many of these progressive cancer still working in the industry? Clearly they’re not starving to death, perhaps their passion is to simply tarnish the enjoyment of others who wish to consume Japanese media, alongside subverting the Japanese culture itself to suit their progressive ideology, good on you Katrina for finding a job that you thoroughly enjoy, now if you’d kindly fuck off that would be great.
Obviously, the replies to her string of tweets were met with the lack of care and consideration from the multitudes of fans she has personally peeved, rightfully shoving her own “quality human translations” right back in her face, with a plethora of quote tweets gaining more likes than her own featuring her own translations featuring western buzzwords and slang.
It’s not just Katrina who are pissed off about the fear of being replaced by robots who’ll certainly do a much more authentic job of actually translating given source material, the self-proclaimed “translator of the highest-rated game of all time” otherwise known as Yukinogatari, who has previously worked on such games as Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris and most infamously The House in Fata Morgana.
Her reaction to the thought of robotic replacement was a lot more aggressive, not in regards to keeping her job but rather it’s a hard life as a JP to EN translator due to the prevalence of “weirdos” who apparently have “no idea” what they’re talking about. Because the whole concept of paid professional localizers purposefully butchering the source material to push some sort of agenda is entirely superstitious.
Superstitious indeed.
As she states that these people are after some sort of “fictitious malicious localizer boogieman” before going on to defend Fire Emblem’s localization, of which she censored its name for whatever reason.
I can see why she’d be so upset about Fire Emblem Engage, considering how the entirety of its English dialogue effectively crosses out any sort of hint or nudge towards romance, of which there’s countless different potential suitors both male and female, with the English localized release effectively making the power of friendship the new form of marriage instead.
She sounds nice, quite the catch if I say so myself. However there’s one tiny problem with this “Yukinogatari” individual. She’s a misandrist and quite a goddamn big one at that, if you’ve never heard of the term before I wouldn’t blame you, especially given how the mainstream media loves to focus only on alleged “homophobia” or “misogynistic” nonsense.
Given how she was personally responsible for replacing the line of “tsundere” for “fragile male ego” inside of House of Fata Morgana, she is quite literally one of many of these invasive parasites that proactively undermine Japanese media to push their own agenda.
She also hates men, if you couldn’t already tell.
Time and time again she has openly spread the most heinous misandrist bullshit I have ever come across on Twitter, if you wanted to know exactly why people (including myself) will inevitably cheer and celebrate when these sorts of people lose their jobs to robots, this is why.
The fact that people like Yukinogatari and Katrina are audibly upset about the potentially of being replaced in the not to distant future is music to my ears, these worthless individuals have had the better part of more than a decade to do their actual job, which I must remind you is TRANSLATION not FANFICTION. These cushy progressive western hacks have been tarnishing Japanese material for years and not only have they gotten away with it, but continue to be employed and rub it in your goddamn faces.
If only localizers chose to translate the source material faithfully instead of incorporating humorous jokes and injecting their personal beliefs and worldviews where they do not belong, how unfortunate that these people will be out of a job soon.
