It continues to go from bad to worse for Sweet Baby Inc and game developers consulting with these nefarious DEI pushers, with Rocksteady Studio’s release of the first post-launch content for their live service game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, receiving little to no applause.
The once reputable studio ultimately decided to give fans of the Arkham-verse a golden shower, with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League not only as a poorly written woke spectacle but also one laden with microtransactions in addition to being a $70 live service game.
With its dismal sales figures, it seems unlikely that the game will stay online as we head into the year 2025.
The game saw its peak concurrent player count reach only 13,459 on its launch day on Steam. However, players swiftly abandoned the game, leading to daily peak figures dropping below the 1,000 mark within weeks after its release.
This performance is notably lower than Rocksteady’s previous single-player titles. Some individuals may attempt to argue that this decline was merely coincidental, but many perceive Suicide Squad as another failed game product intertwined with “inclusive” propaganda, especially since it collaborated with the infamous Sweet Baby Inc consultation firm.
Adding to the intrigue, former Rocksteady lead writer Grant Roberts is now employed as a professional game assassin for Sweet Baby Inc.
I can assure you that every copy you see on this shelf remains unsold. Warner Brothers has resorted to aggressive price cuts less than a month after launch in a desperate attempt to move units.
Given that the game itself is a live service game, it’s always online, coincidentally that also means that its main story progression is designed deliberately to never actually end, because it’s time gated progression both in terms of story but gameplay as well.
As we previously discussed, the developers of the game themselves declared that this new portrayal of Gotham’s most notorious villain is “insecure” and undergoing a process of self-discovery, as he “struggles to navigate the world around him.”
It’s hardly shocking that the creators of a universally despised narrative persist in veering completely off script in their amusing endeavor to humanize the Joker with an over the top flamboyant and effluent design that may or may not hint that the Joker is now homosexual.
Given how the game race swaps the character of Deadshot just as his portrayal in the recent Suicide Squad movies, I wouldn’t be all that surprised that Rocksteady’s new Joker is gay.
The DLC officially launched on March 28th, introducing new gear, notably the Scarecrow Gear Set, which enables players to “stack ‘Fear’ and ‘Horror’ on your enemies.” Additionally, various items inspired by DC villains such as Mad Hatter, Polka-Dot Man, and Reverse Flash are now available.
A new map is also introduced, offering players the opportunity to explore a twisted version of Metropolis during Incursion and Mayhem missions. Rocksteady describes the map as a “darkly comic reflection of the City of Tomorrow, infected with the twisted and warped mind of The Joker.”
Furthermore, Rocksteady introduced a new weapon manufacturer: Intergang, along with new outfits, banners, and poses for characters through the Season 1 Battle Pass, including Waynetech outfits.
However, players were less enthusiastic about the flamboyant and potentially homosexual portrayal of the Joker. The game’s Steam player counts saw only a modest increase.
According to Steamcharts, concurrent players peaked at 3,042 following the DLC’S release. However, by April 1st, that number had dropped to 1,192 with the game already falling below a peak of 1,000 concurrent players just five days later.
Thanks to the minimal rise in player count with a quick decline back to normal, it’s hard to believe that the game generated any significant revenue for its season 1 battle pass sales, needless to say just like the game itself its first season has been a resounding failure.
Its failure follows Warner Bros. acknowledgment that the game failed to meet expectations less than a month after release. Interestingly, WB continued to assert the concept that gamers aren’t interested in single-player games regardless of its failure.
This assertion comes despite Hogwarts Legacy selling over 22 million copies throughout the previous year, surpassing Activision’s streak of highest-selling game annually, even beating Call of Duty.
Notably, Hogwarts Legacy was omitted from last year’s ESG Award Ceremony.
I doubted that a gay Joker would attract any new players to enter the fold, those few who stomached a return to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League more than likely did so out of obligation to salvage something from their regretful purchase.
With the game’s significant failure and ongoing decline as new content is slowly introduced, it’s highly probable that any new development plans have been scrapped by now. Rocksteady may only proceed with continued development on additions that were likely already in progress prior to the game’s release.
As a live service title with a mandatory always-online requirement, there’s no true offline mode of play. Given the game’s immense failure, it’s only a matter of time before the servers are shut down, leaving Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to wither away. Unlike Marvel’s Avengers, which can still be partially played offline, Suicide Squad requires an internet connection at all times.
Once Warner Bros. decides to pull the plug entirely, the game will meet a swift and painless demise.
