It appears that No Nut November has arrived early this year, as one of the most popular sources for hentai doujinshi, nhentai, has recently removed approximately 12,450 galleries just over a day ago.
Countless releases from various artists have subsequently been removed after years of idling, with the most popular example being “177013” otherwise known as Metamorphosis by “Shindo L”.
This must be the most significant purge in nhentai’s history, as the amount of content deleted just yesterday roughly matches the figure removed from the website over the last nine years combined nhentai had only removed around 14,320 galleries in total, the total figure now stands at ~26,700 entries removed.
All works from a select variety of artists have been completely removed, including not only English scanlations but also Japanese raws and Chinese versions, which would otherwise indicate that the removal most likely stemmed due to DMCA takedown notices.
For example, the entire list of Shindo L entries has been removed, every single one. However, amusingly, nhentai still records the number of entries related to Shindo L they had available prior to their removal.
This doesn’t seem to be a purge fixated on a singular type of genre, not akin to how other websites will sporadically purge content relating to so called “child exploitation” such as “lolicon”, the kinks of the content removed are actually rather spread out.
Artists such as:
Amasora Taichi, Ashizuki, Danimaru, Fuguta-ke, Fujiyama, Jingrock, Kemigawa Mondo, Kichirock, Kisaragi Gunma, Kyockcho, Meme50, Michiking, Mizuryu Kei, NANIMOSHINAI, Ohkami Ryosuke, Osomatsu, Pochi Goya, Puyocha, Rifuru, Tachibana Omina, Takeda Hiromitsu and certainly a fuck load more.
Have been reported as having been entirely removed or their entries have been substantially reduced. While a significant portion of the removed content may have been duplicates in different languages, the sheer magnitude of the purge by nhentai is undeniably substantial.
This serves as a wake-up call for anyone who relies exclusively on the site. For starters, you simply cannot rely upon a feeble “favorites” assortment on any kind of explicit piracy platform, if you failed to properly organize your own stash via bookmarks or ideally a sort of spreadsheet you’re probably going to be quite pissed off thanks to this purge.
You can easily switch to another website, but given how I suspect the removal to be in relation to a DCMA takedown from the likes of FAKKU and possibly IRODORI as well, given how majority of the artists removed aren’t actually on FAKKU’s payroll.
Other sites like exhentai and or Hitoma may prove fruitful but who knows exactly how long that’ll last given the circumstances. If you coom and consoom this sorta stuff, you really aught to have downloaded your own personal favorites for safekeeping.
If they’re willing to remove arguably the most high-profile “meme” doujin like Shindo L’s Metamorphosis, then they could practically delete anything else without significant repercussions.
