Update: Following this post, streamer Dr Disrespect issued a statement on Twitter addressing the allegations against him and his Twitch ban in 2020.
In his statement, he confirmed that in 2017, he had engaged in a conversation with a minor, and at some point, the conversation turned inappropriate. Dr Disrespect clarified his side of the story, asserting that this incident won’t end his career and that after an extended break, he will return, implying that he is immune to ‘cancel culture’.
There is a lot to unpack from this situation, especially considering that his Twitch ban occurred three years after the inappropriate conversation with the minor and that it took several more years for this information to surface.
Dr Disrespect claims that nothing illegal occurred, noting that it is not uncommon for content creators to interact with their fans. However, given that he acknowledged the individual was a minor, it’s clear that age was discussed during their interactions.
The nature of what Dr Disrespect considers “inappropriate” behavior is debatable. While jokes, memes, and dark humor are one thing, a conversation turning inherently sexual with a minor is unjustifiable.
But then again, society as a whole seemed to turn a blind eye in the ’80s when famous rock bands and musicians regularly engaged with underage groupies. The selective moral outrage directed at Dr Disrespect is uncanny, especially considering how infamous his case has become, while average citizens continue to ignore instances of Hollywood harboring pedophiles or the promiscuous acts undergone by Bill Clinton alongside Joe and Hunter Biden.
Alongside conveniently refusing to fight for the Epstein client list. A man engaging in conversation with an underage minor of whom he had never met up with in real life is more important than names logged in regards to a worldwide child trafficking ring.
Dr Disrespect vehemently refuted the labels that have been cast upon him, stating that being called a predator hurts him deeply because “anyone that truly knows me knows where I stand on those things with those types of people” while proclaiming that he had no “real intentions” behind such messages.
However, to many, this defense may hold little weight, considering how social media advocates who demand the censorship of artwork and Japanese media depicting “underage minors,” likening fictional characters to real-life children are frequently accused or found guilty of being actual child predators themselves.
Since releasing his statement, Dr Disrespect has lost over 30,000 followers across Twitter and YouTube, and it is expected that this number will continue to rise as his reputation appears to be severely damaged.
Original Article: Guilty until proven innocent.
I generally don’t want to bother myself with mundane and worthless drama revolving around Twitch streamers and other online personalities. However, this one is a little different. A few years ago, a streamer by the name of “Dr. Disrespect” garnered immense infamy with his “dude bro macho” persona, complete with fake hair and signature sunglasses while streaming.
He became a prominent figure among gaming streamers, a rarity considering how Twitch has been taken over by talentless individuals who flaunt their bodies for donations. Dr. Disrespect’s popularity seemed to peak when he confessed to cheating on his wife back in 2017.
During this somber moment, Dr. Disrespect wasn’t streaming under his usual persona but rather as himself. He confessed that his marriage had been on the rocks and admitted to infidelity, cheating on his wife, with whom he has a child.
This news broke across social media circles, leading Dr. Disrespect to take a hiatus for a couple of months. Eventually, he resumed streaming and now finds himself in the spotlight again for a completely different reason.
Today’s society is deeply flawed. Activists on Twitter often proclaim that anime is “literally pedophilia” while they happen to be real life child predators projecting their guilt.
Since the rise of the #MeToo movement, there have been numerous claims of sexual misconduct, abuse, and harassment aimed at individuals without substantial evidence, resulting in countless lives being disrupted for alleged crimes they may not have committed.
One infamous case in Australia involves a woman who falsely accused a man of rape. The man had stopped to help the woman with her broken-down car at a service station. Despite his efforts to assist her, she later accused him of sexual assault. With no evidence, the man lost his job, his family, and spent two weeks in prison before she admitted that she had lied about the rape. His wife divorced him regardless.
This is relevant because the #MeToo movement has “empowered” women, at the expense of common sense and the rights of men. Last Friday, an ex-Twitch employee alleged that popular streamer Dr. Disrespect was banned from the platform for sexting a minor, and attempted to meet up for sex at a TwitchCon event.
Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch in June 2020, a year into a two-year exclusivity contract with the company. Neither party has ever revealed the specific reasons for the ban. Recently, a former Twitch employee came forward with allegations, claiming that the ban was due to Dr Disrespect sending inappropriate messages to a minor. However, no concrete evidence has been provided to substantiate these claims.
Given that Twitch has become a platform known for its progressive stances and exploiting whores, the words of a former employee should be taken with caution, especially regarding a figure who has been labeled as transphobic. Considering Dr Disrespect’s popularity and his background in playing Call of Duty, it’s not surprising that his actions and persona would draw intense scrutiny and varied opinions.
Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch in 2020. Nearly four years later, a supposed ex-Twitch employee has claimed that Dr Disrespect was banned for allegedly attempting to groom and solicit a minor for sex.
Such a serious allegation requires concrete evidence beyond mere hearsay. The lengthy delay in revealing the reason behind his ban raises questions about the validity and timing of this claim, especially considering whether such an accusation would have surfaced if Dr Disrespect had expressed a more progressive and politically safe ideology.
There is currently no proof to support this allegation; it’s all based on word of mouth. If these allegations are proven genuine, it would mean that Twitch as a company, along with individuals like Cody Conners, remained silent about this serious issue for four years. If evidence were to emerge, those involved in covering up such information should be held accountable for their complicity rather than commended for coming forward now.
Given the current societal landscape, the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” seems inverted. The way Cody Conners has casually approached this major accusation, as if revealing a corporate scandal, seems insincere. Naturally, in today’s climate, Dr Disrespect is presumed guilty until proven otherwise.
Much like other large-scale influencers whose audiences consist mainly of children (e.g., Logan Paul), Dr. Disrespect attempted to capitalize on the cryptocurrency trend. He aimed to create his own game that leverages NFTs. digitalized in-game assets tied to the blockchain.
The game “Deadrop” is still in active development by Midnight Society, a studio co-founded by Dr. Disrespect, also known as Guy Beahm. The game is an extraction shooter that appears to have been assembled using asset packs from the Unity store.
Released to players in an alpha state for $25 USD, the game’s main appeal is not the unique in-game items players can extract, but the fact that these items are NFTs. These NFTs are supposed to have real-world value, allowing players to trade or sell them for cryptocurrency.
However, the game has been poorly received, NFT aspects in gaming are widely considered a scam. Dr. Disrespect has marketed this subpar crypto game to his impressionable audience. Midnight Society stands to profit from any third-party NFT transactions.
The idea behind in-game items tied to a blockchain is that they could be used in various crypto-based video games, provided these games are designed to accommodate such items, from weapons to vehicles, if OTHER developers do not implement your assets, those NFTs become hard locked to Deadrop.
Resulting in Midnight Society to proactively develop and design alternative games that actually use the NFTs, otherwise they become no different than loot dropped from any other game, except one can purchase them with real money should they so desire, though why you’d consider doing so is anybody’s guess.
Dr. Disrespect heavily marketed “Deadrop” with the enticing prospect of players being able to extract loot potentially worth thousands of dollars. However, basic economics suggests that value is determined by supply and demand—pricing a digital asset at $100,000 USD doesn’t guarantee someone will pay for it. Dr. Disrespect dismissed critics of his NFT game project as “stupid.”
Fortunately, players won’t have to worry about being scammed by “Deadrop” any longer. After the news broke regarding the alleged reason behind Dr. Disrespect’s Twitch ban, which mind you was an allegation of sexual misconduct with a minor WITHOUT any concrete evidence.
The developers, Midnight Society, have terminated their relationship with him.
Midnight Society has decided to cut ties with Guy Beahm, also known as Dr. Disrespect, to maintain the studio’s principles and standards, the studio whose only claim to fame is an in-development crypto asset flip has cut ties to its co-founder over superficial claims and allegations.
“We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. In order to uphold our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act,” the statement read.
“For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately. While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and their families, along with our community of players.”
Guy Beahm has not yet formally commented on his split with Midnight Society, but he did share a statement on social media after the new allegations began circulating last week.
Dr. Disrespect makes a valid point here. The allegations against him lack substantial evidence. Given that Beahm was bought out of his contract by Twitch, it’s reasonable to assume that he is bound by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which legally prevents him from discussing the details of his termination, leaving him vulnerable to slander.
Dr. Disrespect attempted to sue Twitch in 2021 over his permanent ban, and the matter was settled a year later.
It’s disheartening to see someone dragged through the mud based on unverified claims. This is a common occurrence in today’s society, despite ongoing claims from liberal women about an oppressive “patriarchy.” It’s especially ironic when such claims come from multibillionaires like Taylor Swift, whose family has connections to Merrill Lynch, the investment and management division of Bank of America.
Dr. Disrespect mentioned during a stream almost immediately before Midnight Society’s announcement that it might be time for him to “step away” from his online persona.
He also seemed to acknowledge the Midnight Society statement, saying, “Maybe I step away from there too. Just completely remove myself from the scene. That’s what I need to do.”
How this all unfolds is anybody’s guess. Personally, I won’t miss Deadrop and its notorious cryptocurrency scheme. However, it’s disheartening to see yet another man’s life potentially ruined over unverified allegations, which likely spawned due to the fact that he did not share the same political views that is expected of Twitch employees.
