You’re forbidden from removing the continual reminder that the content you’re engaging with is not only deemed racist but is also no longer acceptable.
Only a few days ago, we brought to your attention the shift in the nature of PC game modifications. Rather than being about freedom of expression and speech, they now seem to prioritize political compliance and adherence to a specific ideology.
As my earlier article on the topic swiftly circulated on Twitter, it brought to the attention of hundreds of thousands of individuals the glaring hypocrisy of mod hosting services like Gamebanana.
Their seemingly excessive sensitivity toward a game modification that simply increases a character’s chest size, all while the character remains fully clothed, has raised eyebrows among many.
And with good reason. Persona 3 Reload itself showcases considerably more suggestive and revealing attire for in-game characters, far “worse” than what the mod itself offers if for whatever reason you vow to give fictional pixels and polygons more human rights than actual people.
Fanservice is a significant element of the Persona franchise, a line that delineates between genuine fans and parasitic invaders amongst its “fanbase”. For instance, the creator of a well-known jiggle physics mod for Pyra and Mythra in Super Smash Bros Ultimate recently expressed their newfound disgust over the supposed “sexualization of underage characters” by the Busty Yukari mod and the Persona series as a whole.
The true hypocrisy behind Gamebanana’s removal of the mod stems from their open hosting and provision of illicit 18+ game modifications for Genshin Impact.
This game predominantly features characters that many would perceive as petite or child-like. It’s hypocritical because such nude or suggestive mods, available for loli characters of Genshin Impact, evidently violate Gamebanana’s own terms of service.
It also doesn’t really help their claim if you can view such “suggestive” mods of “child-like” characters being recommended to newly created accounts via the “ripe” tab.
Their terms of service supposedly prohibit sexualized content involving characters that are “indistinguishable from a minor,” whether real or animated and yet at the same time the service is oddly indecisive when it comes to actually enforcing their own rules, much akin to Valve’s game curation when it comes to Steam.
None of the platforms, including ModDB, Gamebanana, and especially Nexusmods, can be relied upon for anything substantial. They all enforce stringent rules and strongly lean towards progressivism. Anything that contradicts or supports the progressive agenda is promptly removed without hesitation.
The latest example of forced political correctness comes from Crystal Dynamics, who included a disclaimer in the recent Tomb Raider 1-3 Remaster.
Players are now subjected to the developer’s virtue signaling about so-called “inexcusable racism” within the original Tomb Raider trilogy. This insinuates that the original developers at Core Design, as well as those who enjoyed their games, are somehow complicit in racism.
Naturally, as you’d expect from valiant individuals who seemingly don’t like being forced fed political nonsense by gutless corporations who are slandering them, a user quickly produced a game modification that removed the disclaimer outright.
One slight issue. The mod was actually uploaded to Nexusmods, which is renowned as the most infamous and notorious mod hosting service for purging content that doesn’t align with their own ideology. They previously made a considerable fuss about individuals replacing pride flags with American ones in Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The mod functions as advertised, as described in its description, by eliminating Crystal Dynamics’ inaccurate assertion about the games being racist. For individuals who find the warning offensive, they have the option to remove it instead.
And yet if you were to view the mod in question today you’ll be met with this message instead.
NexusMods is taking a firm stance by openly banning and removing numerous game modifications, citing allegations of racism or primarily targeting the removal of woke pandering or inclusive content.
Thankfully there’s a backup for an alternative mod that removes Crystal Dynamics’ pledge of ESG alongside other EULA and legal disclaimers from the Tomb Raider Remastered trilogy.
Examples include the pronoun removal mod for Starfield and the Ser Aylin mod for Baldur’s Gate 3, which alters a lesbian relationship to be heterosexual and the White Wyll mod, also for Baldur’s Gate 3 because Whitewashing is strictly frowned upon but Blackwashing is a-okay.
Again, it’s not about the message itself. Left-leaning individuals often argue that pronouns options, desexualized “body types” or disclaimers about racism are trivial and inconsequential. However, when such elements are removed or altered, they overreact greatly, unable to resist kicking up a fuss.
Alternatively, on platforms like NexusMods and Gamebanana, which are managed and moderated by progressives themselves, many such mods will be scrutinized and memory holed.
