The first entry in the extensive Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise is set to debut on XBOX home consoles in April.
Idea Factory International has revealed the release date for Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters on Xbox consoles. Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters is set to arrive on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on April 16th, with pre-orders now available. Fans can also opt for a physical edition through the IFI Online Store.
Originally launched in April 2022 for Japan on PS4 and PS5, followed by a Western release in January 2023 across PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, Hyperdimension Neptunia is making its way to XBOX platforms for the first time ever with Sisters vs. Sisters.
Though of course I am unsure as to why you’d even consider purchasing the game for XBOX home consoles given the hilarity of its post-launch western censorship which altered various forms of in-game dialogue and text to scrub out any offensive language.
The modifications were stated to be implemented to align with the guidelines of America’s ESRB rating system, with the post-launch patch also extending to European releases to ensure localized parity.
But I genuinely don’t buy that excuse, but then again the game did launch without the ESRB moniker for offensive language so who exactly knows for certain, what I do know is that the game is censored across all platforms and will certainly extend to this release on XBOX home consoles without the ability to modify the game and revert it back to its original state unlike on PC.
Considering how Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters still features the Teen ESRB rating without any mention of suggestive / offensive language is basically a guarantee that this XBOX rendition will carry the censored dialogue present inside all other copies following the 1.01 patch update, I myself wasn’t aware that the Neptunia franchise is somehow unanimously associated with an adolescent fan base given how the entire franchise is rife with fan service and suggestive CG artwork, but foul language in the form of piss, shit and bastard are considered too much for Western audiences to bare.
The only reason you’d consider purchasing the game for XBOX is if for whatever reason you’ve arbitrarily locked yourself to a progressive and demoralizing console ecosystem with mandated monthly payments to access basic online functionality and features, in which case you probably deserve to be used and abused by being given inferior and regressive renditions of games.
