Mod creator LukeYui has announced their ongoing work on a mod introducing online cooperative play to Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
LukeYui is recognized for crafting high-quality mods, mostly for Dark Souls games or games akin to Dark Souls, namely a PvP and co-op mod for Sekiro, as well as the seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring which I have personally used and it was absolutely lovely.
LukeYui shared a video demonstration of their ongoing mod project on November 20, which aims to incorporate seamless cooperative play into Armored Core 6. The community response has been highly positive, likely driven by the success of LukeYui’s other co-op mods for Fromsoft titles.
The demonstration features two players engaging in the “Attack the Watchpoint” mission, with the mod designed to accommodate up to 6 players (1 host and 5 guests).
Upon completion, the mod is expected to include enemy scaling and maintain the co-op party between missions which is just baffling to me, the host will have the flexibility to adjust difficulty for each additional player just in case you’ve got someone tagging along who’s just there for the ride.
The co-op mod for Armored Core 6 is currently in its alpha stage, and the creator has expressed that once it’s prepared for testing, a public beta will be made available on NexusMods.
Much akin to how his previous co-op mod for Elden Ring worked on pirated copies, if you’re new to the franchise there’s a high probability that this upcoming co-op mod may very well work in some form between users on cracked copies, just a hypothesis if you’re skeptical about conserving precious dollars during these trying times.
Because I for one would rather pirate the game and simply pay the mod creator for providing me hours of antics and shenanigans between mates, though if you’re pirating the game you will miss out on the ability to leverage creations made by other individuals such as custom emblems and mech decals as they require connection to the official servers to browse / input share ID codes.
Not so much an issue so long as you and your friends are creative individuals, though obviously you’ll have a lot more fun with online co-op by sharing hilarious and whacky mecha designs during official story missions, though you could probably circumvent this via other game modifications such as the RX 93 FF Nu Gundam mod for example.
For those interested in supporting the creator’s work, LukeYui has a Ko-fi page, and their mods can be accessed on NexusMods.
