What’s even the fucking point, why launch it at all if you’re just going to close it months later?
In an unexpected out of season April Fool’s joke, Publishers Bushiroad and developer KLab Games have announced the global release of Love Live School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live in February 2024.
They coincidentally announced that the global version will have a server closure on May 31st, 2024.
It’s no joke: the mobile gacha game is set for a global launch next month, but the servers will shut down on May 31, 2024, with in-app purchases being disabled.
With just three months to play, what’s the incentive for players? “We appreciate your love and support and are determined to make these final months unforgettable,” they shared on Twitter.
Just like myself, Twitter users are dumbfounded regarding the rationale behind launching the global version of the game when it’s slated to shut down mere months later.
Regardless, this has to be the funniest announcement (and closure) made for a gacha game.

Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE!, a rhythm game with unique character interactions, launched in Japan in April 2023 but will now be discontinued less than a year later, more than likely due to the failures of being able to generate enough income from its in-game gacha elements.
This shutdown adds to the list of mobile games ending this year, including World of Demons, which was delisted earlier this month, and Square Enix’s NieR Re[in]carnation, set to shut down on April 29th.
