Publisher PQube has issued a statement on Twitter in response to ongoing inquiries from fans regarding potential alterations to the Western release of the KONOSUBA Love For These Clothes Of Desire!
Scheduled for release on February 8, 2024, justified concerns arose due to past changes made to Japanese games localized for the West, particularly on PlayStation platforms.
However, PQube confirmed that the game will remain unchanged from its Japanese version across all platforms, including PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
KONOSUBA God’s Blessing On This Wonderful World! Love For These Clothes Of Desire! is the sequel to the visual novel “Judgment on this Greedy Game!” which released back in September 2017 exclusively to Japan.
In this new story, Kazuma and his companions encounter a mysterious “Black Slab” that grants them desires contradicting their true natures. To break this unique curse, they must craft outfits that align with their newfound desires, resulting in drastically different personas.
The visual novel aims to immerse players in a fresh narrative, allowing them to engage with their favorite characters in unprecedented ways. The journey involves a strategic blend of resource management and relationship building.
Players craft weekly schedules for each character, utilizing their strengths to gather funds and ingredients necessary for creating transformative outfits. However, every decision and dialogue choice carries significant weight, influencing the story’s direction and the characters’ reactions.
Managing resources, completing tasks, and tailoring mystical outfits contribute to a gameplay experience full of surprises, revealing new dimensions of the characters as they embrace their desire-driven attire.
I still find it peculiar how this title for instance marks the first proper game based upon the KONOSUBA franchise to reach western consumers rather than the prequel title that still remains untranslated, let alone the couple of dungeon crawler titles based on the franchise released in Japan as well.
Regardless, I’m happy to see that PQube is adamant that the CG artwork will not be censored for its Western release, however that goes without saying that there’s still a chance for rogue and malicious localized translations to be present within.
The game will launch on February 8th and shouldn’t feature any altercations to the abundance of suggestive CG imagery.
