Inti Creates has announced a sequel to the widely acclaimed side-scrolling action platformer Gal Guardians: Demon Purge, titled Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark.
The Gal Guardians series combines classic Castlevania-style gameplay elements, including exploration and puzzle-solving, with modern action mechanics such as swordplay and firearms. A key feature is the ability to switch between two sister protagonists each with their own unique abilities.
Gal Guardians: Demon Purge was well-received by fans as a spin-off from the popular Gal*Gun rail shooter series, where players shoot girls with pheromones to make them fall in love.
In contrast, Gal Guardians takes on a darker, more action-oriented tone while reimagining characters from the Gal*Gun series, with Shinobu and Maya from Gal*Gun Double Peace given a fresh take in Demon Purge.
The unexpected sequel to the spin-off, Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark, will shift focus away from the original two protagonists and instead center around two new sisters, Masha and Kirika Kurashiki.
Kirika was previously portrayed as an NPC in the mainline Gal*Gun series.
Depicted as seductive demon maids serving the Demon Lord Maxim, the two sisters, Masha and Kirika, embark on a mission to restore their demon castle, revive their master, and navigate the underworld. Players can switch between the siblings, with Kirika excelling at long-range attacks and Masha specializing in close-quarters combat.
Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced release date.
The game will feature a two-player co-op mode, allowing friends to control both sisters simultaneously. Inti Creates is fully immersed in the title’s development, ensuring cutting-edge 2D action and exploration.
With the first Gal Guardians spin-off receiving an 81% rating on Steam from over 860 reviews, fans of retro-style 2D pixel action games are sure to appreciate what Inti Creates is crafting.
