Inti Creates has officially unveiled a deck-building roguelite card battle RPG titled “Card-en-Ciel.”
The game was first teased by Inti back in late January, revealing the card battle system; however, no formal name was provided at that time. Supported platforms for “Card-en-Ciel includes the PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One console platforms with a release date still pending.
“Card-en-Ciel” presents a deck-building, “destructively refreshing” roguelite card battle RPG experience within a fictional gaming universe. The game unfolds with an unexpected incident where characters from different games manifest within an online game in development.
A detective by the name of “Neon” undertakes the challenge of exploring dungeons scattered across various locations to resolve these game-related incidents.
Card-en-Ciel will feature over 10 uniquely crafted dungeons, each embodying the distinct themes and characters of fictional games, players engage in card battles to overcome the protagonists and heroines of these worlds.
As players progress, unraveling the mysteries behind the incidents, Neon’s investigative journey unfolds. Moreover, the game offers multiple endings, with reaching the true conclusion as the ultimate objective for players.
The card battles take place on a field where the player’s territory, consisting of nine squares, faces off against the enemy’s. Cards, representing “characters with consciousness” from games within this world, number over 300.
They possess various effects such as attacking or drawing new cards, alongside abilities for movement and special moves. Choosing which mode to utilize cards in becomes crucial depending on the situation.
Victory in battle recruits characters as allies and obtains them as cards. Conquering dungeons allows players to bring back all acquired cards for subsequent dungeon runs.
As Neon grows stronger through dungeon conquests, the deck’s repertoire expands, enhancing strategic depth. At pivotal moments in the story, dungeons known as “team battles” emerge, where all previously recruited cards join the fray.
Furthermore, players may obtain special cards known as Diva characters. Divas start live performances during battles upon meeting specific conditions, supporting players with unique powerful effects while energizing battles with their songs.
By combining Divas’ potent effects, exploiting enemies’ abilities in reverse, or utilizing glitches hidden within cards, players can execute exhilarating “destructively refreshing combos.”
The project’s development director brings prior experience from titles like Digimon Universe: App Monsters and Bakutsuri Hunters for the Nintendo 3DS. With a specialization in deck-building battles, he will lead the inception of this game’s development, offering assurances of forthcoming updates.
