Idea Factory International has revealed plans to launch the visual novel “Date a Live: Ren Dystopia” based on Koushi Tachibana’s Date A Live light novel series globally, extending its availability outside of Japan.
The game is also due to be released on PC via Steam sometime this year, offering both standard and deluxe editions for players.
This is not the only Date a Live game available on Steam for PC. Date a Live: Rio Reincarnation, containing both Rinne Utopia and Arusu Install, has been on the storefront since 2019, alongside its PS4 release.
It will also feature Japanese audio alongside English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese subtitles.
The global PC release will include localizations of two exclusive audio dramas, “Natsumi Encounter” and “Origami Friendship,” along with the short novel “Ren Masques,” which are part of the Deluxe Edition.
For those who purchase the Deluxe Edition, they will receive a 13 page digital art collection featuring character artwork and rough designs, the aforementioned audio dramas alongside a drama script PDF file in English / Traditional Chinese, they will also receive a copy of the official soundtrack for the game featuring 27 tracks in total.
DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia initially debuted on PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 24, 2020. In response to inquiries about the absence of a global release on the Sony PlayStation 4, a representative from Idea Factory International stated to Gematsu, “We opted for the PC release to cater to a worldwide audience that showed enthusiasm for the launch of DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation on Steam.”
In the upcoming Date a Live: Ren Dystopia game, players will once again assume the role of Shido Itsuka, navigating the challenges posed by Spirits to prevent any harm to Japan and the world.
These Spirits, often female, show an interest in Shido, and the key to neutralizing their powers is for Shido to date them and seal their abilities. The new installment introduces a new heroine named Ren, adding more fluff and heroine conquests.
No doubt this is exciting news for avid fans of the Date a Live franchise who’ve either read the original source material or just so happened to watch through the four whole seasons worth of its anime adaptations, with a fifth season set to air this year.
