Active Gaming Media‘s PLAYISM division has unveiled that a console version of “Rusted Moss,” is slated for release on June 20. The game will be accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
Additionally, for PS5 and Nintendo Switch, a physical edition will be available, with pre-orders already underway at multiple Japanese retailers, such as Amazon and Biccamera. Initial production bonuses will include an artbook featuring a strategy guide, an original soundtrack CD, and store-specific bonuses.
“Rusted Moss” is a visually stunning Metroidvania game featuring exquisite pixel art. Players navigate the game using a grappling hook and firearms to combat against humanity in a world teetering on the edge of destruction.
Set in a universe where humanity faces extinction due to a fairy invasion, the game follows the story of Fern, a changeling raised by human parents but aligned with the fairies. Armed with a mysterious shadow pact, Fern embarks on a quest to usher in the end of the human era.
The game unfolds through battles and exploration in this decaying world.
Crafted by indie game developers Faxdoc, happysquared, and sunnydaze, “Rusted Moss” made its debut on PC via Steam in April 2023. Presently, it’s offered at a discounted rate of 40%.
As of the latest count, the game has received an 88% positive rating from 634 user reviews on Steam, earning the esteemed status of “Very Positive.” Players lauded the game for its gratifying grappling mechanics and captivating dark atmosphere.
In “Rusted Moss,” Fern navigates the desolate world armed with guns and grappling abilities. The terrain presents intricate challenges that cannot be overcome through simple jumping or movement. Thus, the game integrates grappling mechanics. By leveraging the elasticity of a grappling hook, including recoil, players can advance through the world.
In addition to grappling, various firearms such as shotguns are at your disposal.
While the console version of the game was initially scheduled for a spring 2024 release, the official release date has now been confirmed for June 20th, however the massive takeaway aside from the fact that console players will soon be able to experience this hidden jewel is that a significant update will be included to the Steam version coinciding with the console launch.
This update is expected to introduce 10 new areas and over 300 additional stages, providing approximately 7 to 8 hours of fresh content. Additionally, players can anticipate the introduction of a Boss Rush mode and a Maya mode inspired by RTA mode, so even if you’ve already completed the game previously on PC there’s more than enough reason to come back.
