April Fools was a couple of months ago, but I’ll humbly accept this nonetheless.
Level Infinite and SHIFT UP have announced an unexpected collaboration for their free-to-play title, “Goddess of Victory: NIKKE,” set to launch on July 4, 2024, with “Dave the Diver” during their “Special Summer Livestream.”
“Goddess of Victory: NIKKE” is renowned for its anime-style maidens and action-oriented gameplay, appealing to fans with its third-person “shooter” fanservice elements and in-depth story. But particularly we enjoy watching cute girls bounce and shake their booty in a post-apocalyptic setting.
On the other hand, “Dave the Diver” is a casual deep-sea exploration RPG, contrasting sharply with the fanservice focus of “Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.” Despite this contrast, the collaboration promises to introduce new swimsuit variants of characters and a themed minigame inspired by “Dave the Diver,” offering players a fresh and unexpected gameplay experience.
If you look at the collaboration at face value you’d likely think it was retarded, or perhaps a ploy made by Sony to destroy Goddess of Victory: NIKKE from within by including the first male NIKKE, thankfully this isn’t the case.
Onthe contrary this collaboration looks to be an amazing addition to the game that would leave the previous Re:Zero collaboration in the dust.
The collaborative minigame immerses players in the world of “Dave the Diver,” where the objective is to gather ingredients for a restaurant. The promotional video prominently featured characters like “Bancho” and “Dave” from “Dave the Diver.”
In “Dave the Diver,” Bancho manages Bancho Sushi, a popular sushi restaurant where Dave delivers freshly caught fish. However, in this minigame, players dive into the water to collect various aquatic creatures, all enamored in Dave the Diver’s distinctive pixelated art style underscoring the significant effort put into this collaboration.
Alongside this, new costumes were unveiled for the Aegis Unit’s “Mast” and “Anchor,” designed to complement the collaboration’s theme. Notably, the characters are portrayed in sleek wetsuits, emphasizing their alluring appearance.
Furthermore, during the broadcast, it was announced that besides “Dave the Diver,” there will be large-scale collaborations with other well-known IPs, to be introduced in the latter half of 2024, SHIFT UP really made an impact with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE and its collaboration with NieR:Automata, followed by an underwhelming collaboration with Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World.
But even though this collaboration may seem like a retarded addition, it aims to be one of the most significant updates I’ve seen since starting to play Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.
Mind you, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is free-to-play and generously rewards progression, ensuring you don’t necessarily have to spend money to acquire desired characters.
This update brings elements from Dave the Diver, a highly acclaimed indie game with a stellar 97% all-time review rating on Steam from 95,364 reviews. Normally priced at $20, players are getting a slice of this beloved game integrated into Goddess of Victory: NIKKE at no cost.
Players can enjoy the pixelated charm of deep underwater diving, hunting various fish and creatures lurking in the depths. You can control three characters, upgrade weapons and gear, and explore the ocean depths. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to obtain swimsuit-clad versions of the charming Anchor and the voluptuous Mast.
The collaboration between Goddess of Victory: NIKKE and Dave the Diver is set to launch on July 4, 2024, and I genuinely can’t wait to dive in.
