Spiral Up Games unveiled plans to launch “Anomaly Collapse,” a turn-based roguelite strategy game developed by RocketPunch Games, on April 12th.
The game will be accessible on PC via Steam and will feature Japanese, English and Chinese language support.
“Anomaly Collapse” is a turn-based roguelite strategy game featuring furry warriors battling it out. Set in a world ravaged by supernatural catastrophes, characters from diverse backgrounds unite to confront enigmatic monsters.
The game features eight playable characters, each with distinct classes and abilities, including the iconic “Glitch,” the doctor Mira, and the tank officer known as Stray.
As the story progresses, additional allies will join the battle. However, with only three character slots available, your choices are crucial for devising the right strategy to overcome enemy forces.
Each character possesses unique starting skills and attributes. For example, Glitch excels in close-quarters combat, Mira specializes in healing and marksmanship, and Stray is skilled in defense and disruption.
In Anomaly Collapse, battles unfold in a turn-based manner across a row of squares. Players will command each character to take actions like attacking, healing, moving, or skipping their turn.
Additionally, items may occupy squares, with commands available for interaction. These actions consume AP or MP, with AP shared among the team.
If a friendly character is on the same square during an attack on an enemy, they may perform additional strikes or execute flanking maneuvers, emphasizing the importance of strategic positioning in battles.
Victorious battles yield rewards, including new skills, both active and passive, which can be equipped in character slots for use in combat.
Moreover, as characters level up, their maximum HP, armor values, and various stats increase. Progressing through battles and uncovering clues related to supernatural disasters leads to boss encounters. Overcoming battles will advance the main storyline.
Initially, “Anomaly Collapse” was conceived with human characters as the main protagonists. However, the direction changed to include fluffy furry characters, culminating in the recent announcement of its release date.
RocketPunch Games, an indie studio located in Beijing, China, gained recognition for their widely praised mecha action game “Hardcore Mecha,”which was a 2D side-scrolling action game. It achieved notoriety as one of the few gaming projects successfully launched via Kickstarter.
The game was released on June 27th, 2019, to positive reception, accumulating over 2,200 reviews. With a “Very Positive” rating of 82%, “Hardcore Mecha” stands as a testament to RocketPunch‘s capabilities.
In my experience, I’ve consistently enjoyed Chinese-developed games featuring cute anthropomorphic characters. Gunfire Reborn stands out as one of my favorite niche indie titles released in recent years. If you’re into repetitive dungeon-crawling first-person shooting roguelites, I highly recommend it over similar games like Risk of Rain.
This success hopefully lends credibility to RocketPunch as they expand further with “Anomaly Collapse,” offering a unique niche experience tailored for those interested in strategic turn-based combat with a furry twist.
A Demo is currently available to download via Steam if the game has peaked your interests before making the ultimate decision whether or not it’s worth your money come April 12th.
