Entergram has announced “HIGHSPEED Etoile Paddock Stories,” a visual novel based on the Highspeed Etoile anime for the Nintendo Switch.
It will launch on November 21 in Japan, priced at 3,960 yen for the retail version and 2,970 yen for the download version. A limited edition priced at 12,980 yen will also be available, though it is unlikely this edition will be released in the West anytime soon.
Highspeed Etoile is an original anime series that follows Rin Rindoh, a sparkling pink-haired girl. Rin once dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer but had to give up that dream due to an injury. She subsequently became a NEET living with her grandmother until she is suddenly thrust into the world of racing after having learned to drive by playing video games.
The series is set in the near future, where advanced high-tech vehicles can exceed speeds of 500 km/h. A next-generation race event called NEX Race emerges, revolutionizing the world of racing. NEX Racing features AI control support and a “Revolburst” mechanism. Rin Rindoh makes her debut in NEX Race, revolutionizing the sport.
The original animated series aired during the Spring 2024 season and concluded on June 22nd. It holds a 5.94 rating on MyAnimeList from 2,481 users.
Despite lukewarm fanfare, Highspeed Etoile was created in collaboration with Japan’s own Super Formula and will now receive its own game adaptation. This shows that the series may have a devoted domestic fanbase.
HIGHSPEED Etoile Paddock Stories aims to highlight the lovely character designs of Takuya Fujima, known for their work on R-15 and Weiß Survive, in a new light.

Information is rather limited, but Entergram’s official website states that this visual novel will provide players with insights into NEX Race, including behind-the-scenes footage of its dazzling competitors.
I can’t help but feel disappointed that an action-packed racing series is getting a visual novel instead of combining the two elements into a more immersive and comprehensive experience.
While the concept might not hold much promise, it would have been a new experience not seen since Moero Downhill Night and Future GPX Cyber Formula on the original PlayStation.
However, beggars can’t be choosers. HIGHSPEED Etoile Paddock Stories is a visual novel, whether you like it or not. It will at least feature stunning event CG artwork and character illustrations by Takuya Fujima, who is also responsible for the game’s concept.
Needless to say, this game will provide plenty of opportunities to showcase the lovely girls of Highspeed Etoile in their racing suits and other enticing outfits.
This is especially true for the VN’s limited edition, which includes a Prima Stella acrylic figure and a B2W suede tapestry featuring Rin Rindoh and Hikari Hinata in adorable swimsuits. Additionally, it comes with a soundtrack, voice drama CD, artbook, and a new novel. The Limited Edition will also feature a revised front cover showcasing the two characters in swimsuits.
I still see this game as a missed opportunity, but I hope fans will be pleased with what Entergram has created with HIGHSPEED Etoile Paddock Stories, releasing on November 21st for the Nintendo Switch. It would be something special if it adopts a similar approach to Future GPX Cyber Formula: New Challenger, which effectively presents races as if they were live within a visual novel format, but we’ll have to wait for more information.
