After years of anticipation, the English translation patch for TYPE-MOON and Imageepoch’s Fate/Extra CCC, has reached completion and is ready for download.
Initially unveiled by “Iwakura Productions” back in September 2015, the project has finally come to fruition, allowing fans to experience the game in English after a little over 8 years of development. Although originally hinted for a Christmas release, the patch is now available for download well in advance of the expected date.
As for the authenticity of the localization, I cannot say for certain if the translation is authentic, though across the entire time spent waiting for it, we could’ve simply just learned Japanese.
But just so you know, one of the individuals working on the project partakes in “LGBT fantasy writing”, so with that in mind you might opt to avoid this translation like the plague and instead lean Japanese.
Launched in March 2013 for the PlayStation Portable, Fate/Extra CCC is a Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) co-developed by Type-Moon and Imageepoch. With over a decade having passed since its release.
One of its notable features is its extensive size, attributed to a scenario crafted by the series’ creator, Kinoko Nasu, Fate/Extra CCC has an estimated playable time of around 56 hours according to VNDB.
The history of this project is quite intriguing. As it began shortly after the game’s release by GBATemp user neoxephon, it was, however, abandoned back in 2014. Despite this, the original author opted to share their progress with others, opening the door for further development.
Renowned fan translator cj_iwakura and their team took up the reins in 2015. The completion of the fan translation, nearly a decade later, reflects the intricate and extensive nature of Fate/Extra CCC. Given the game’s complexity and immense duration, the prolonged development period is understandable.
If the Fate series isn’t familiar to you, it made its debut in 2004 with an adult-oriented visual novel called Fate/stay night, if you’re new to the series brought on upon by the recent release of Fate/Samurai Remnant, you can start with Fate/stay night which is entirely free to play on web browsers, so before progressive further it’s essential that you start there.
Following the trend of many visual novel developers, Type-Moon has moved away from adult content, paving the way for Fate to evolve into an expansive multimedia franchise encompassing anime, manga, and various other forms of spinoff media.
While the Fate series hasn’t strayed too far away from visual novels, given the sheer amount of text involved in a lot of its game entries, its most widely embraced iteration is the ongoing Fate/Grand Order mobile game which continues to rake in the dough on a monthly basis, having recently achieved $7 Billion in revenue back in September.
Once more, the English patch is available to download from the Iwakura Productions website, or if you’re genuinely lazy you can instead opt to downloading a pre-patched ISO from websites such as CDRomance.
