The small-scale technical test for the action RPG “Duet Night Abyss” has officially commenced on March 27th. During this trial, a limited number of players can engage in stylish battles using firearms and melee weapons, alongside a costume feature enabling them to customize their characters’ appearance.
Having previously registered for the technical test of the game, I can’t help but be immensely salty over the fact that I wasn’t given a slot in the queue and I suspect many others share the same sentiment.
The game itself promises dynamic 3D action with a versatile weapon system, offering swords, spears, whips, bows, guns, and cannons, especially with today’s landscape, consumers are being bombarded with a plethora of large-scale free-to-play games, all vying for success akin to miHoYo’s Genshin Impact.
Titles like Manjuu’s Azur Promilia, Wuthering Waves, and Project Mugen plan to offer expansive open-world action RPG experiences. However, PAN STUDIO’s Duet Night Abyss stands out with its randomly generated worlds and fluid movement system, involving sliding, grinding, and parkour.
Rather than being a 3D open-world action RPG, Duet Night Abyss shares similarities with games like Warframe but adds the charm of beautiful anime girls, some of which are incredibly short in stature.
The game also implements a “Feeling” feature akin to a favorability system, influencing how NPCs respond to the player’s character based on their decisions. As this Feeling gauge increases, character development gains advantages, potentially unlocking new subquests.
Additionally, players can customize their characters by equipping and removing accessories such as hair ornaments, glasses, and capes, tailoring their appearance to their liking.
Players assume the roles of one of two distinctly different protagonists with the ability to summon two NPCs to aid them in battle. However, players have the freedom to switch to any character from their available roster during gameplay.
Each character possesses unique skills and abilities, with certain weapons, called “consonance weapons,” tailored specifically to them, while traditional melee and ranged weapons are interchangeable and can be freely used by any character.
While you may not have the opportunity to participate in the technical test yourself, or experience the game firsthand before its imminent release, it’s worth noting that games of this genre frequently conduct closed beta tests prior to their launch.
However, you can still gauge your personal interest in the game by watching gameplay footage recorded by those who have been granted access to the technical test and forming your own assessment.
