CD Projekt Red (CDPR), a prominent Polish tyrant in the industry has long since been a leading example of gaming companies that have embraced Western ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) principles.
This is evident not only in their hiring practices but also in the content of their games. Their latest release, Cyberpunk 2077, stands out as one of the most progressive and inclusive titles, with significant representation of queer themes and characters, marking a notable shift toward diversity in gaming.
As the gaming industry increasingly focuses on meeting diversity quotas, prioritizing hires based on fulfilling demographic checkboxes rather than credibility and skill, we’re witnessing a growing trend of commercial failures, projects that squander years of development and resources.
This shift appears to come at the expense of male professionals in the industry, whose presence are now considered ungainly and unwanted in the modern workplace.
For example, Ubisoft’s “Develop at Ubisoft” mentorship program, designed to nurture aspiring developers either enrolled in or recently graduated from college, has openly prioritized female and non-binary candidates, effectively excluding men from applying.
The gaming industry has seen significant changes over the past decade, driven in part by the feminist movement and the push for increased female representation in the workforce. However, many of these hires lack the necessary skills for game development and bring overt progressive ideologies into the industry.
As a result, the overall quality of game design has largely declined since 2012, with experienced developers being replaced by a new wave of feminist employees who aim to emasculate the gaming industry from the inside.
This shift has led to the imposition of progressive ideologies on game content, aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards promoted by corporations like BlackRock.
A particular focus has been placed on diversity and inclusivity, often at the expense of traditional portrayals of women in games. Female characters are being redesigned to appear more androgynous or gender-neutral, with revealing outfits censored under the premise that they are “unrealistic” or “sexist.”
The products these feminist developers create feel subpar, filled with forced and tokenized LGBT “representation” that lacks genuine depth. It seems that modern developers struggle to craft authentic and meaningful characters of color without relying on third-party services like Sweet Baby Inc to meet their ESG checklists.
This reliance highlights just how dysfunctional and out of touch the industry has become.
CD Projekt Red is currently one of the most progressive and “woke” game developers, with a significant number of female employees and benefits like menstrual leave for staff.
The company is a prominent example of embracing DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. This approach was evident in Cyberpunk 2077, which incorporated inclusive elements, though its upcoming sequel appears poised to push even further in terms of progressive themes.
Adding to the controversy, CD Projekt Red recently hired Mary Kenney as a senior writer, formerly of Insomniac Games, she had openly defended Sweet Baby Inc. and advocated for game developers to “pull every lever” in promoting LGBT representation and queer narratives in the industry because according to a biased study by an LGBT advocacy group, gay people are “underrepresented” in modern gaming.
Furthermore, CDPR has partnered with the Perspektywy Educational Foundation to launch the fourth edition of their scholarship and mentorship program, similar to whatever the hell Warner Bros are doing and Ubisoft’s “Develop at Ubisoft.” This new program exclusively targets young women, raising concerns about the exclusion of other aspiring developers.
As part of the “Dziewczyny w grze!” program, high school students can receive 12,000 Polish złoty (roughly $3,100 USD) to help cover the costs of their education and professional development. Participants also have the chance to join a mentorship program led by a CD Projekt RED expert. The program includes workshops and valuable learning opportunities.
The first three editions of the program garnered significant interest, with over 3,500 applicants from across Poland. Graduates of the program form an Alumni community of more than 40 members, and CD Projekt RED continues to support them through initiatives like specialized workshops at the Women in Tech Summit.
Many graduates of the “Dziewczyny w grze!” program pursued further studies related to game development, an area in which CD Projekt Red is continually hiring.
By the end of 2019, CDPR employed 1,044 people, with 84% working in development roles and the remainder for GOG.com. Of the 872 people working for CDPR at that time, 640 were men and 232 were women, a figure that has been steadily increasing all over the world. More than a quarter of CDPR’s workforce four years ago was female, reflecting the industry’s growing emphasis on gender diversity over competency.
CDPR’s collaboration with the Perspektywy Educational Foundation, which excludes male applicants, aims to train the next generation of game developers. This program hones participants’ professional skills and prepares them for the realities of the workplace, with a goal of increasing job satisfaction and skills for those wishing to enter the field, it’s a noble thing or rather would be if not for the blatantly sexist exclusions.
The gaming industry is largely committed to affirmative action and DEI-driven hiring practices. Many such initiatives as these prioritize the inclusion of candidates based on their sex or ethnicity rather than skills or qualifications, pushing aside capable individuals, particularly White men.
Under the influence of ideologies like those promoted by BlackRock. These companies are investing heavily in grooming the next generation of developers, focusing on liberal feminist women, while actively sidelining men, which undermines the industry’s future as these women are creatively bankrupt.
Nearly every Western development studio now prioritizes female applicants, leading to overstaffed teams and inflated production costs. Game development takes significantly longer than it did in previous decades, as these new hires have nothing to offer except weak, progressive narratives.
They don’t know how to write male characters, the industry has largely fallen into ruin as “masculinity” is scrutinized. Instead all we’re fed is censored rehashes of old titles or modern inclusive slop emphasizing tokenized representation like Sony’s Concord.
The industry, teetering on the brink of collapse, suffers from developers more focused on pushing political agendas than delivering quality content.
A glaring example is Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which enforces a fictionalized samurai narrative centered around Yasuke, a Black man in the Sengoku Period, showcasing the growing trend of imposing modern racial themes on historical settings.
CD Projekt Red are bound to follow suit with its next release, expected to be a high-budget, progressive title. Given the hype and disappointment surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, many foresee another underwhelming result.
Predictably, the gaming industry will defend these efforts by labeling critics of DEI and ESG policies as racist bigots, deflecting from the legitimate concerns raised by gamers as we’re eradicated from the industry by progressive dyed hair feminists.
