A DanMachi console game with an original story drafted by its series creator, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Quest of Memories finally gets a release period and several more visuals novels have been announced.
This new year has started off absolutely terrible for Japan, with devastating earthquakes killing at least one hundred, a fumble at air traffic control saw two planes collide on a runway and a crazed woman decided to get a little stabby.
To alleviate all the bullshit that has transpired over the last week, Bushiroad hosted a big event at the Tokyo Dome venue in Japan, unveiling several announcements, along with fresh footage and details about games previously announced.
And we start with Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Fulland of Water and Light.
This brand new game is undoubtedly based upon the popular DanMachi series otherwise known as “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”, there wasn’t much information about the game specifically apart from the fact that it will receive a console release.
There have been several DanMachi games released over the years all of which are specifically tailored towards mobile players, such as DanMachi BATTLE CHRONICLE and DanMachi: Memoria Freese which will have its international release shut down come February 28th.
I wonder if Crunchyroll censoring Memoria Freese had something to do with its failure in the West?
However this isn’t the first time a game based on Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? released on home consoles, as DanMachi Infinite Combate released on Sony PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and even PC.
I cannot lie, I’m a big fan of this franchise in particular, despite there being no announcement made by publishers Bushiroad in regards to a release window or even the developers behind Fulland of Water and Light, for it to be announced as a console release certainly gives me hope that there’ll at least be some form of quality control and ideally we just get more RPG dungeon crawling antics with lots of visual novel fluff pieces.
Also showcased alongside Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Fulland of Water and Light, were gameplay trailers for several other Bushiroad published titles such as the Goblin Slayer Another Adventurer: Nightmare Feast Tactical RPG, which will be coming to PC via Steam alongside the Nintendo Switch on February 29th.
You can learn more about the game on the official website, though to summarize the first home console release for the Goblin Slayer franchise would be a 2.5D tactical RPG with beautiful pixelated graphics on 3D landscapes, obviously with visual novel elements to boot to immerse yourself in the original story concepted by the series creator Kumo Kagyu.
The second game showcased is Macross Shooting Insight, which will be releasing not only on Nintendo Switch but PlayStation platforms and PC as well on March 14th.
Developed by Kaminari Games, Macross Shooting Insight was actually intended on being released on January 25th, with the science fiction shoot’em up being delayed almost two months.
The third game showcased is Gift.
Developed in conjunction between Toydium and Million Edge, Gift is a side-scrolling puzzle game which won’t be released until May 9th for Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 5, Microsoft Series X/S consoles and PC via Steam.
And more excitingly, we’ve been blessed with a proper trailer for Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Quest of Memories which is now slated for release sometime in the Summer of 2024.
The small trailer snippet also reveals something else interesting, the genre of which wasn’t previously disclosed, the game based upon the hit sensation Mushoku Tensei franchise is releasing on home consoles such as the PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch (and PC) is being developed by Lancarse and it will be a first person dungeon crawler with visual novel elements to boot.
Did you think we were done there? Four games showcased, one more announced, Bushiroad are just getting started actually.
They previously announced a Hunter X Hunter based fighting game a couple of months ago at Jump Festa, which now has a proper title. Hunter X Hunter Nen x Impact.
While we still don’t know actual specifics in regards to genuine gameplay outside of cinematics, what we do know is that Hunter X Hunter Nen x Impact is being developed by Eighting who have prior experience working on games like DNF Duel, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Fate/unlimited codes, Tekken Advance, Bloody Roar, and Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed.
I just fucking hope it’s not an arena fighter.
Surely that has to be it, right? With six games showcased in total Bushiroad still aren’t satisfied it would seem.
Bushiroad Games has additionally revealed a roster of new visual novels slated for release on both Nintendo Switch and PC. The titles include “The Blatant Lies of Lilja and Natsuka” and “Lilac”, both developed by Frontwing.
In addition to these two games, Bushiroad has announced “DUSK INDEX: GION,” developed by cherrymochi, and “Virtual Girl@” by HEADLOCK.
And that finally wraps it up. Ten games showcased / revealed all up is truly marvelous to behold, especially for games such as Goblin Slayer Another Adventurer: Nightmare Feast and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Quest of Memories which certainly have my interest as well as the interest of many fans of those particular franchises, and of course the announcement of yet another home console DanMachi game certainly has be excited.
For fans of fighting games based off Shonen franchises, Hunter X Hunter Nen x Impact will surely peak your interests as well, I for one am thrilled following the announcements and new trailers showcased by Bushiroad, and I certainly cannot wait for many of these games release.
