Nobody asked for this, but if it pisses off the most insufferable people, I’m all for it.
Today is 9/11, and what better way to commemorate one of America’s most significant events than for the CCP to partner with a fast food chain for a taste of Teyvat? Genshin Impact is stirring up excitement with a new collaboration with McDonald’s in America. The popular gacha game has teased exclusive in-game rewards and limited edition items for both players and customers.
Genshin Impact has recently sparked heated discussions, primarily driven by self-proclaimed anti-racist cultural experts on social media. The controversy centers around the announcement of Genshin Impact’s 5.0 update, which introduces the expansive new region of Natlan to the action RPG.
A vocal boycott campaign has emerged, fueled by claims that the characters from the fictional region of Natlan, within the fantasy world of Teyvat, were allegedly whitewashed, sparking outrage amongst a very vocal minority.
The announcement of the Natlan region in Genshin Impact sparked outrage among a vocal group of online activists, who argued that the fictional characters and depictions of deities, demons and gods were being culturally appropriated.
They insisted that the characters from this fantasy world should be portrayed with Black skin tones. These critics launched a relentless social media campaign, modifying official artwork to “give them the melanin they deserve” and calling for a boycott of the game.
The boycott campaign, which has since garnered over 100,000 signatures, quickly became a target of ridicule. The effort seemed to have no tangible impact, as miHoYo’s profits reportedly increased after the controversy with the launch of Zenless Zone Zero.
Ironically, many within the “Boycott HoyoVerse” movement failed to grasp the meaning of a boycott, continuing to play the game under the pretense of being “free-to-play” users.
The most notable achievement of these so-called virtue signalers seems to be exposing themselves as intolerable retards for the rest of Twitter to ridicule.
These are people so disconnected from reality that they conflate fiction with real life, attacking others while pushing their race-obsessed agendas onto Chinese-made creations simply because the fictional characters in a fantasy game aren’t “dark enough.”
Meanwhile, these same moral crusaders, who seem to dedicate their lives to upholding perceived moral high ground, likely because they live in conflict-free environments with little else to worry about are now outraged over companies with ties to Israel.
This outrage comes despite the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, which has been happening since the 1940s but is only now deemed worth their attention.
The boycott of McDonald’s by some consumers during the Israel-Palestine conflict stems from claims that the company has shown support for one side over the other, specifically accusations of backing Israel. Activists point to McDonald’s Israel, a franchisee that has engaged in charitable activities, including providing meals to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as evidence of a pro-Israel stance.
This boycott aligns with a broader activism movement surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, where companies believed to support Israel are often targeted to exert economic pressure. Activists argue that such companies are complicit in what they view as an unjust conflict.
Now, throw in a video game community upset over Genshin Impact’s lack of darker-skinned characters, and mix that with McDonald’s already in hot water due to its perceived ties to Israel, and you’ve got a recipe for a monumental Twitter storm. Activists who are either unable to stop playing the game or never played it in the first place are fueling the outrage.
The first item in the collaboration is the Genshin Impact Apple Pie. With each purchase, players will receive a redemption code that unlocks in-game rewards, including 40 Primogems, 20,000 Mora, a Golden Apple Pastry recipe, 3 Golden Apple Pastries, 4 Mystic Enhancement Ores, and 2 Hero’s Wit.
The packaging features characters Beidou and Kaedehara Kazuha, adding a nice Genshin-themed touch to the experience.
The second item is the Genshin Impact Deluxe McCrispy Meal, which includes a McCrispy chicken sandwich, fries, an apple, and a drink. Purchasing this meal grants players a redemption code for the Wings of Delicacies Wind Glider and the Celebration: Crispy and Sweet Namecard, adding more cosmetic flair to their in-game profiles.
miHoYo has previously collaborated with KFC, initially exclusive to China during the game’s first year. This partnership included limited-time promotions and exclusive rewards for players who visited KFC outlets, such as themed merchandise, branding, and in-game cosmetic items.
ollowing the success of the China-exclusive collaboration, Genshin Impact and KFC expanded their partnership globally in November 2021, offering the coveted “Wings of Feasting” glider to a broader audience. More recently, another collaboration in China featured characters Lyney and Lynette, further fueling the game’s promotional efforts.
This latest collaboration with McDonald’s, however, is exclusive to the U.S., which, as expected, has sparked outrage among a vocal minority of virtue-signaling propagandists on social media who are displeased with the supposedly “racist” video game collaborating with the evil genocidal maniacs who aim to serve you an inedible burger made of vegetable oil and soy.
These individuals are clearly unhinged, with some going as far as to issue threats of violence over fictional characters, all because of a marketing campaign with a successful fast-food chain.
Of course, the CCP couldn’t care less about accusations of cultural appropriation, they’re simply creating a game tailored for an Asian demographic, set in a fantasy world filled with fictional characters.
They don’t care about the “Black representation” fetish virtue signaling propagandists have. These so-called righteous individuals claim to be upstanding members of society, yet frequently display radical behavior, obsessing over drawings and forcing their skewed perspectives on others.
Honestly, it’s hilarious watching them recoil. Much like how transgender activists harassed streamers over “the wizard game,” these people expose their true colors: either you conform to their twisted worldview, or you’re the enemy and deserve to be abused and slandered.
What they don’t seem to grasp is that acting like insufferable pieces of shit, threatening people over fictional media, only makes others despise them. Considering Genshin Impact’s 5.0 update launched at the end of last month, I’m eager to see miHoYo’s profits soar throughout September, much to the dismay of their “boycotters.”
