Just as a Sweet Baby Inc employee reignited Gamergate by attempting to cancel an individual over a list, the Streisand effect is now in full swing with Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong following an alleged attempt at DEI curational blackmail.
Recently, we reported on a rumor involving Sweet Baby Inc, an ESG/DEI consultancy firm with connections to developers and journalists. The firm allegedly tried to force their services on the Chinese developers of Game Science for their upcoming game, Black Myth: Wukong.
Although the source of this rumor is unverified, it was claimed that Sweet Baby Inc demanded $7 million for their services and were promptly told to take a hike, in whatever term that translates to in Mandarin.
Coincidentally, the same rumor suggested that Game Science and their upcoming game faced criticism from Western journalists over allegations of sexism.
This is entirely true. For instance, every single article from IGN about Black Myth: Wukong has consistently tried to slander the game and its developers over allegations of sexism.
Each article adds more defamatory statements, based on IGN’s “own research,” which consists of mistranslated interpretations. They also demand that the developers at Game Science address these false allegations, while complaining about the lack of female characters in the game’s presentation footage.
Naturally, other outlets have been echoing IGN’s findings, suggesting that the game and its developers are inherently sexist and pointing out that the developers have refrained from commenting on the matter. IGN has produced several articles about the game, and each one features these allegations as a main focal point.
In their latest article, IGN journalists were given a hands-on demo of the game, but predictably, their article released today continues to gloss over the alleged sexism reports.
This situation supports the theory that Sweet Baby Inc, the DEI consultancy firm, operates like an influential mafia. It’s already been exposed that they have connections to journalist publications that have tried their hardest to gaslight consumers about the influence Kim Belair and her anti-white team have on game development.
One of their employees even claimed it was targeted harassment for someone to compile a list of publicly available information about the games made in collaboration with Sweet Baby Inc. It’s curious how they find it offensive for people to notice and recognize their achievements.
It’s certainly suspicious how Game Science refused to collaborate with Sweet Baby Inc for Black Myth: Wukong, and since rejecting their offer, they’ve been hounded by Western outlets over allegations of sexism.
It appears that refusing to be blackmailed into diversity and inclusivity consultancy results in their game being slandered as bigoted, sexist, and problematic. This tarnishes the developers and their game in the eyes of the public, thanks to the collaborative ties between journalists and these woke consultancy firms.
Following the discovery of journalistic malpractice by IGN and rumors of Sweet Baby Inc attempting to pressure Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong has surged in popularity. The game has soared to the top of the wishlists on Valve’s Steam store, surpassing titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, ARK 2, STALKER 2, and even the upcoming DLC for Elden Ring.
If that wasn’t enough, Black Myth: Wukong has also surged in pre-order sales, reaching 7th place on Steam’s global best-selling games list. It has surpassed titles like Kingdom Hearts HD 1+2 ReMIX, Helldivers 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Deep Rock Galactic, Ghost of Tsushima, and Forza Horizon 5.
While it still trails behind PUBG, Counter-Strike 2, and Destiny 2, these are essentially free-to-play titles that can be instantly added to anyone’s library. Therefore, excluding F2P titles and Valve’s own Steam Deck, Wukong could be considered the third best-selling game, behind Elden Ring and its upcoming DLC expansion “Shadow of the Erdtree.”
This is incredibly ironic, given that Sweet Baby Inc, a company notorious for collaborating on some of the worst financial flops of the modern generation, attempted to coerce Game Science into paying $7 million for their consultancy. When people discovered the hit job by IGN to tarnish the reputation of Black Myth: Wukong, gamers worldwide seemingly took notice and either bought the game or considered doing so, possibly out of spite.
This situation highlights a growing divide between game developers and gaming journalists. While journalism is supposed to cover genuine issues within the industry, it now vilifies consumers as racist bigots, praising queer propaganda, and slandering games that cater to heterosexual audiences as sexist, despite the fact that over 80% of gamers are men. This was evident with the treatment of games like Stellar Blade.
On the other hand, there is a dangerous potential for harm when reporting lacks the necessary care and integrity. Modern journalists often seem to lack this integrity, and I freely admit that I lack it as well. I do what I do simply because I despise these spineless rats, whose mission seems to be to disrupt and destroy the industry I once held dear.
