In response to the release of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 Super, AMD have taken drastic action with retailers issuing a price cut for the Radeon RX 7900 XT.
The AMD Radeon graphics card, equipped with a “modest” 20GB memory buffer provides greater performance than NVIDIA’s outgoing RTX 4070 Ti and can be had purchased via Newegg from $709.
This notable $90 discount positions the RX 7900 XT as a very competitive choice for 1440p gamers. Notably, ASRock, XFX, and Sapphire have swiftly adjusted the prices of their mainstream variants to align with this reduction.
Additionally, there is an incentive of a redeemable code for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, valued at $70 the Avatar bundle persists with all high-end Radeon GPU offerings, enhancing the overall value proposition for some buyers.
However I personally don’t see any additional value tacked onto the product if all you’re getting are a bunch of worthless game keys which can simply be downloaded for free anyway, I’d rather save another thirty dollars off the purchase of the product itself rather than receive an Ubisoft title.
I should be paid to redeem such filth.
Other models such as the sublime XFX SPEEDSTER MERC310, which is probably your best option if you value elegant shroud designs but also thermals as well, alongside the Sapphire Pulse and ASRock Phantom Gaming are down their lowest prices at $730 and $740 respectively.
Except all three of these models come with a bonus $20 coupon, so effectively their prices align with the ASRock Phantom in black at $710 or $720 if you’re after a white design.
I said it before as I covered the contents of Computex, with AMD hilariously falling head first with the announcement of the RX 7600 XT alongside NVIDIA managing to swindle consumers by offering marginally less overpriced components than previous with the RTX 4000 SUPER announcement, which still doesn’t provide ample affordability for what has been the worst graphics generation in years.
AMD needed to respond to NVIDIA’s Super series announcements by dropping their prices across the entire board, especially when it comes to the likes of the 7900 XT and XTX.
While faster than the RTX 4070 Ti, the Radeon RX 7900 XT is pipped to compete with the newly introduced RTX 4070 Ti SUPER which is bound to replace the outgoing model, with NVIDIA’s offering still retaining the bullshit $800 MSRP price tag, AMD has to aggressively undercut and market their products effectively if they want to maintain consumer sales.
NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 SUPER isn’t going to break headlines, despite a marginal price drop it won’t surpass the performance of the 7900 XTX, however it’s equally priced at $1000, effectively removing AMD’s main marketing point of offering more value by undercutting the competition.
We’re still awaiting reviews and performance figures in regards to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER which is due for launch on January 24th, however I’d estimate that its performance should match or even surpass the likes of the Radeon RX 7900 XT but don’t quote me on that.
Despite the retarded $800 price tag for what’s essentially a middle of the road product, I just can’t imagine that a difference of ~90 dollars in favor of AMD is enough to facilitate the Radeon as being a “must buy” or some sort of special saving.
Rather, both cards continue to disappoint consumers by being immensely overpriced, and quite honestly with NVIDIA applying the illusion of pressure with overpriced RTX 4000 SUPER additions, you would think that AMD would respond with a bit more vigor than a subtle price drop for the 7900 XT as everything else for the time being has been ignored.
