Nise-Eikoku Studio, the indie developer behind Labyrinth of Touhou: Gensokyo and the Heaven-Piercing Great Tree, has announced their next project: Labyrinth of Touhou Tri: The Dreaming Girls & The Mysterious Orbs.
This upcoming dungeon RPG, set within the Touhou Project universe, is expected to launch on PC between Winter 2024 and Spring 2025 on PC via storefronts such as Valve’s Steam store and newly available avenues such as DLSite.
Released on August 24, 2021, Labyrinth of Touhou – Gensokyo and the Heaven-Piercing Tree was a well-received dungeon-crawling RPG set in the Touhou universe. Featuring over 50 iconic characters, players can form teams of 12 to explore a massive, mysterious tree in Gensokyo.
The game offered more than 100 challenging boss battles, character customization, and a mix of tactical and turn-based combat. It earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 91% approval from 299 reviews.
The upcoming Labyrinth of Touhou Tri: The Dreaming Girls & The Mysterious Orbs will launch with both Japanese and English language options, a remarkable feature for a fan-made project.
The game continues the series’ signature 12-character party system, offering over 40 characters and an estimated 30-50 hours of gameplay. Emphasizing strategic combat, it features challenging boss battles and various enemy types, including rare and giant enemies that offer enhanced rewards.
This fan-made entry upholds the tradition of community-driven content in the Touhou Project series, celebrating ZUN’s creation sometime in the near future.
