Another courageous indie developer is looking to overthrow Pocket Pair’s Palworld for GOTY 2024.
Turkish developer studio “GalaxyVerse” have announced their latest shovel ware release of “Epstein” which is bound to infect the Steam storefront on February 17th, 2024.
Epstein is a survival crafting game that thrusts players into an exploration journey on a mysterious and perilous island, where they must uncover dark secrets and confront various hazards to survive.
The island is governed by the main antagonist, Jefry, who commands sinister creatures called “Morbids”, skeleton monsters that feed on human blood. Jefry conducts his ominous operations from a grand temple constructed on the island.
Your objective is to endure the unforgiving conditions of the island, eradicate the diseased creatures, and ultimately confront and vanquish Jefry.
Throughout your journey, you can forge alliances with fellow inhabitants striving to evade Jefry’s assaults. This blend of individual skill trials and strategic teamwork adds depth to the gameplay experience.
As you progress on the island, your character will experience hunger. You can satisfy this hunger by fishing with a handmade rod and using worms from the soil as bait, gathered with a shovel.
Additionally, you can establish a farm for pigs and chickens, feeding them their favorite fruits to produce meat. However, remember to cook the meat before consuming it to avoid any adverse effects.
Epstein ingeniously integrates a variety of Unity store assets into a single impressive creation. Players can seamlessly team up with friends for cooperative play, construct shelters, fish for sustenance, breed animals and work together in defeating the nefarious Jefry on the enigmatic Epstein island.
Your mission is to uncover the secret code leading to Jefry’s stronghold, a temple protected by dangerous creatures called Morbids. Your goal is clear: create, construct, and persevere.
Capture Jefry within the temple and eliminate him once and for all.
I specifically remember Valve muttering about how they were going to be a bit more lenient when it came to the approval process for games on the Steam store unless of course the game itself was clearly “trolling“.
Obviously and and all references between Epstein the game and its main antagonist Jefry and a notorious pedophilic sex trafficker by a similar name is purely coincidental.
Valve has only continued to target Japanese games at random, banning them from releasing on Steam while allowing developers to leverage AI (artificial intelligence) to flush out their games, in which case Epstein takes full advantage of Valve’s newer (and lower) standards by utilizing AI for promotional photographs on the Steam store.
Regardless, I am quite looking forward to the release of [REDACTED] which is due to release on Steam come February 17th, though I imagine that the game will launch in an unfinished state with intended patch updates being subsequently delayed for several years.
