You genuinely cannot make this shit up anymore, Britain has become a totalitarian dystopia.
The United Kingdom at this point is entirely a lost cause, with the nation rife with crime, violence, knife fights and of course child molestation, British police are more focused on targeting citizens under tyranny than to go after assailants and fiends.
Honestly I thought it was bad enough, in June of 2023, Metropolitan police in the UK apprehended two “fiends” who were acting suspicious. The good samaritain officers helped themselves to confiscating a large amount of confectionary items the two gentlemen had on hand, mainly chocolate sweets and a shit load of RedBull.
Honestly. The United Kingdom has become a nanny state, rather than enforcing the law amidst a rapid increase in youth crime, violence and rape, mostly stemming from a large annual influx of migrant residents, the UK decided instead to focus on implementing common sense knife laws, forbidding the purchase of bladed items in store for anyone under the legal age.
As crime becomes more commonplace and citizens are prosecuted for defending themselves or fighting back, the UK government seemingly continues to impose more restrictive and barbaric laws that clamp down on civil bullshit such as insulting individuals online and hate speech, with various incidents of UK citizens being arrested for posting offensive memes on social media platforms.
But this one simply takes the cake, this is the first instance of someone facial legal ramifications for illicit game mods held on their own private device.
An individual posted to reddit seeking legal advice regarding a situation involving their spouse, the incident itself is alarming in several ways. The poster proclaims that their wife left their personal laptop device turned on whilst at a friends house during a party, at this gathering a man used the laptop, opened up Skyrim to discover the horrors within.
The wife in question turned out to have several illicit and sexual game mods installed on her own copy of Skyrim. No harm no foul, sexual modifications are probably the most commonplace mods available for Skyrim, however these mods themselves included sexual interactions between the playable character and non-human entities such as wolves.
Again, not my cup of tea but then again such prolific game mods are quite rampant amidst the more “niche” communities of Skyrim game modding such as Lovers Lab.
Regardless of the specific nature of the mods installed, the individual who discovered the laptop’s contents went above and beyond throwing a supposed “friend” under the bus over pixels, reporting the OP’s wife and the laptop to the police who then proceeded to confiscate the device.
Imagine that. Someone discovers that you’ve got SexLab installed for Skyrim, reports you to the police who them immediately help themselves to seizing your device, not just that but she had been requested to attend an interview regarding her laptop which would likely not be returned for over a year.
Let alone the fact that this supposed individual then tried to air out the dirty laundry by dragging her name through the mud on social media platforms such as Facebook , TikTok, Twitter and even her employer.
Regardless of the mods installed, it is highly inappropriate for law enforcement to confiscate the device and use it as leverage by suggesting a quicker return if cooperation is offered.
Cooperate on what, exactly? The laptop was taken based on hearsay about barbaric mods installed in a video game, it’s entirely fictional. And now they’re resorting to blackmail tactics over the device.
What sort of overly sensitive “friend” reports a Skyrim mod to the police anyway? And he claims his wife is the one traumatized which I no doubt believe entirely given the nature of events that have transpired.
It’s disheartening, but unfortunately not surprising that such an incident occurred in England. The broader UK has been experiencing a decline in the protection of freedom of speech and expression. Problematic jokes and memes are illegal, certain expressions are met with legal consequences, and even the act of misgendering can be a problem.
The very reasoning behind the ordeal? Because she remained faithful to her partner and rejected the advances of the individual in question, which resulted in a spiral of defamation laid against her on social media, which is borderline harassment mind you, which I believe is illegal in most countries but don’t quote me on that.
Now, it appears that explicit game modifications involving fictional animals may potentially bring legal consequences for this woman, or at the very least, jeopardize her social standing, subject her to harsh ridicule and embarrassment who quite clearly has been personally targeted.
