Were you born in the year 1988? Congratulations on becoming anti-semitic.
Disney, one of the largest corporate entities to ruthlessly screw over consumers by safeguarding their intellectual property, to the point where they denied a young boy to feature an engraving of Spider-Man on his tombstone, suffered a major loss as the Steamboat Willie rendition of Mickey Mouse is now public domain.
Barely even half a day after Steamboat Willie became public domain, Nightmare Forge Games wasted no time in announcing a horrifying sloppa software in the form of Infestation 88.
A developer that seemingly came out of nowhere was entirely ready for this very moment, aiming to twist Steamboat Willie into something terrifying, similarly to that horrid Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey movie, with Nightmare Forge Games aiming to cash in on the resemblance of Mickey Mouse with a survivor horror game.
Barely any actual information or detail was left behind with its trailer however what can be witnessed from the trailer is that the game predominately features mutated rats and of course Steamboat Willie himself, the short one minute trailer showcases players using a propulsion weapon firing a thick waft of green gas to wave off Mickey’s rath.
With several well adjusted individuals with too much time on their hands seemingly stretching the name of the game and the actions within as some sort of anti-Jewish dog whistle of sorts.
Given how the Anti Defamation League finds 10% of numbers between zero and one hundred as being symbols of hate, the number 88 holds great significance when it comes to being anti-semitic.
The number “88” is viewed by the ADL as being a reference to “Hail Hitler”. So as previously mentioned if you had the mistake of being born in the year 1988 you’re obviously a far-right fascist who should be rounded up into a camp.
Never forget the fact that the YouTuber known as Internet Historian is absolutely a Nazi because he set his date of birth to April 20th 1989, which retards on Twitter eluded to the fact that this date specifically happened to be 100 years after the birth of Adolf Hitler.
It’s a massive stretch, though the fire was continually fueled by the fact that apparently non-racists on Twitter proclaim that the game “Infestation 88” in total reaches 14 characters, the word “Infestation” is worth 14 points in scrabble and that the game itself is a 1-4 player cooperative experience.
Given that the nature of a game has people in hazmat suits handling what appears to be an infestation of rats, but quite obviously non-racist individuals have deemed it to be racist as in some way shape or form you can formulate the word “1488” which is yet another symbol of hate as per the ADL.
The next thing you’ll know these sorts of people will be demanding that Back to the Future be canceled due to the references of achieving a speed of 88 MPH. The game itself appears to be low level slop, a forgettable experience cashing in on now public domain figures, what I want to know is what sort of libertarian instantly made references to “nazi dog whistles” simply because the game and name revolves around the year 1988.
In light of the criticism from current culture non-racists, Nightmare Forge Games has decided to address the concerns by rebranding the game as Infestation: Origins.
Honestly, this whole ordeal has seemingly given the spotlight to a game that more than likely doesn’t deserve it, regardless of which rest assured that the modern audience of non-gaming Liberal extremists on Twitter that believe everything is racist, sexist, homophobic or somehow offensive will not be buying this game.
Could Infestation 88 truly be some sort of racist dog whistle? It could very well be but the assumptions are entirely baseless, any normal human being would simply look at the game for what it really was. A pretty uninspiring first try from an indie developer capitalizing upon the Steamboat Willie IP and we’d simply move on with our lives.
However some simply want to make a mountain out of a molehill, they see the name, they see the letters 88 and they see the gameplay involves rats and gassing and for whatever goddamn reason they assume that this somehow equates to some sort of anti-Jewish fantasy, and these people are viewed as being morally righteous and all inclusive, which is why they seemingly strike offense with just about everything.
