Now you understand why so many Chinese players instead opt to infect other servers instead.
The CCP’s society dictates that its citizens instead stop playing video games and go out and work to facilitate their crumbling economy, which is why they’ve been imposing restrictions on playtime and especially the sort of content Chinese gamers can actually consume.
And Blue Archive is one of the most popular mobile gacha games available on the app store, in fact Blue Archive was actually the most popular topic when it came to Doujinshi during Comiket 103 (Winter) essentially doubling the total number of doujin featuring Blue Archive from the previous Comiket 102 (Summer).
Blue Archive as a whole has nearly double the entries of “Gacha other” despite being a gacha game itself, it’s simply so goddamn large it has its own dedicated tag / area.
Blue Archive, developed by NAT Games, a South Korean studio, is a foreign entity, but nevertheless our modern gaming culture is swarmed by Japanese mobile games, Chinese mobile games and Korean mobile games that all share the same principles.
Pretty women, dare I say sexy women, and a fuck load of predatory gacha microtransactional baggage. And Blue Archive for that matter is quickly becoming a lasting franchise, similarly to Azur Lane with its main lure being the attractiveness of its characters.
Blue Archive is a foreign entity to the Chinese who clearly want its citizens to instead fund their own mobile gacha empire by stifling the competition via imposed censorship.
The Chinese version of Blue Archive has undergone more censorship, adjustments made to various characters, 13 in total are now much less revealing with their breasts getting a CCP reduction makeover.
The altercations are quite obvious, even a blind person would be able to see the difference, the Chinese are obviously taking issue with attractive female characters but only for foreign titles while mobile gacha games that originate from China such as Azur Lane, Girls Frontline and Arknights seemingly go unchecked.
The character known as Izumimoto Eimi had already previously been censored in China before, while retaining her actual breast size previous rounds of censorship seemingly just stuck tape around her cleavage so that slightly less skin was showing.
Not the case this time around unfortunately, with the Chinese server censoring Eimi yet again by covering up her breasts entirely, not just that but her bust seemingly got a noticeable size reduction as well.
One of the most notorious characters in Blue Archive, Ichinose Asuna is a staple of the franchise and the Chinese have also covered up her cleavage and seemingly removed excess “fat” in the very same area.
And obviously, Karin, one of the other most prominent characters of Blue Archive has also been censored in China.
The character of Shun was also previously censored on the Chinese localized server, with much less skin showing around her chest region, a common theme for this round of censorship, now however she too has had a breast reduction operation with virtually zero skin being shown around her chest area and with fewer skin being revealed around her thighs.
The character of Mashiro is flat as a board and was already covered up, but considering how she isn’t wearing a burka you can still see her “problematic” skin with her legs freely exposed for all to see.
Not anymore, as Mashiro now sports spandex shorts to appear much more modest.
The character of Sukeban (MG) has had her chest region covered up with adjustments made to her sarashi, alongside with far less naval skin being revealed.
The character of Pina had had her costume modified to be less revealing of her rack.
Tsubaki has also had a breast size reduction alongside with said breasts also covered up as well.
Characters have also been censored for arbitrary reasons as well, the Chinese apparently take offense to things such as skulls, death and religion, with the characters of Tsurugi and her swimsuit variation both being adjusted to downplay the importance of her Halo which is normally depicted as being blood red with bloody droplets falling down from it.
Now her Halo appears more simplified with the blood droplets removed and its color modified to be pitch black.
Kotori has buttoned up her shirt for the Chinese version, alongside a subtle nerf to her actual breast size, so not only are they smaller but entirely covered.
And lastly we have Juri and Sumire, with Juri having her breast size considerably decreased while Sumire has had her leggings raised similarly to Sukeban (MG) so that there’s less naval area being exposed.
Blue Archive has done a fantastic job of winning over its increasing fanbase by actually releasing a higher age rated rendition of the game which brought back formally censored content to their former glory, effectively splitting the game into two renditions with one being for teens and the other being for adults.
Unfortunately there’s no other way to put it because the Chinese are once again oppressing opposing nations through arbitrary censorship, with the most likely reasoning being to push Chinese whales away from Blue Archive onto other mobile games, preferably those made by China themselves.
Censorship is a very effective tactic to burn audiences of these sorts of games, make the characters less revealing / sexy and watch the fans burn them at the stake, but this is obviously a tactic to undermine the popularity of Blue Archive which is a Korean developed title, but this doesn’t outright stop Chinese players from playing the game as many of them have opted to switch to playing on foreign servers due to the imposed censorship.
