I love the communist republic of China, I love how its citizens are constantly oppressed, I love how China’s GDP is nothing but embellishment and lies and I certainly love how they have a social crediting system prohibiting those who oppose the regime from being able to buy daily needs such as food and clothing.
I especially love how all these major tech companies, Apple, NVIDIA, Intel and AMD all seemingly want a slice of the enormous Chinese pie, producing products exclusively to the region so that they can be reverse engineered and have their intellectual property stolen.
AMD confused a lot of people when it introduced the Radeon RX 7900 GRE or the Golden Rabbit Edition, exclusive to Chinese markets and some limited OEM adoption in other regions, the 7900 GRE is actually a further cut down rendition of the 7900 XT, featuring 80 Compute Units totaling 5120 Stream Processors as opposed to the 84 CUs found inside the 7900 XT (5376 SPs).
AMD’s competitor, NVIDIA is notorious for producing half arsed renditions of graphics cards under the same or similar naming scheme with variance in specifications, they literally tried to peddle the RTX 4070 Ti as being a so called “RTX 4080 12GB”, which was met with such sheer hatred NVIDIA simply renamed it a 4070 Ti and kept a $800 price tag and nobody complained afterwards.
Because most consumers are retarded sheep, I of course still remember the time NVIDIA hilariously swindled consumers with embezzled SKU naming schemes with the GTX 1060.
The GTX 1060 came in three flavors, you had the 6GB variant with 1280 CUDA cores, lots of people bought these GPUs by the dozen and then you had the GTX 1060 3GB which came with 1152 CUDA cores, same name, less VRAM and less cores. People bought them anyway because they’re retarded, but then you had the GTX 1060 5GB exclusive to the Chinese market, these also came with 1280 CUDA cores.
Excluding the variants that were made utilizing severely cut down GP104 cores, variants that came with 9Gbps GDDR5 memory as opposed to the 8Gbps standard, and there was even a variant that came with GDDR5X memory also clocked at 8Gbps.
The GTX 1060 according to NVIDIA is the town bicycle, there’s a million different varieties all with varying levels of performance, all of which seemingly pale in comparison to a 8GB Polaris GPU but I digress.
AMD actually did something very similar with the RX 400 / 500 series, with the RX 470 featuring 2048 Stream Processors, there was also a Chinese exclusive variant called the RX 470D that came with just 1792 Stream Processors, same name, worse performance.
Then you had the RX 580, a more binned rendition of the previous generation, featuring 2304 Stream Processors, but then you had a “2048SP” variant that contained…… you guessed it 2048 Stream Processors. Same name, worse performance.
Both AMD and NVIDIA do this shit frequently, AMD at least keeps its gimped shovelware exclusive to the Chinese market while NVIDIA desperately peddled about a million variants of the GTX 1060 onto consumers worldwide (barring the 5GB SKU).
And now? AMD is doing it again, even though we’re already well into the swing of things with RDNA 3, the Radeon RX 7000 series, AMD are prepping not one but two Chinese exclusive GPUs that are based upon previous generation RX 6000 “RDNA 2” graphics cards.
Introducing the RX 6750 GRE(ed).
Consumers are able to purchase a Radeon RX 6700 XT featuring 2560 Stream Processors, 12GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 16Gbps for around $329 on Newegg, however AMD are now repurposing it as the RX 6750 GRE 12GB with an alleged MSRP of $289 USD or ¥2379 Yuan.
Despite being called the RX 6750 GRE, which would imply that alike the actual Radeon RX 6750 XT that it would feature 18Gbps memory chips but I suppose not.
What’s even more baffling for just $269 USD or ¥2219 Yuan, if you’re in China you’re able to purchase the RX 6750 GRE 10GB variant that comes equipped with less cores, 2304 SPs vs 2560, a cucked memory bus width, 160-bit versus the 192-bit width memory interface found on the 12GB variant, and 16MB less of AMD’s Infinity Cache.
So essentially the same as the regular Radeon RX 6700, just now renamed as the 6750 GRE 10GB.
I absolutely hate it when these companies do shit like this, providing products with identical or similar naming schemes when they themselves come with a large variance in actual specifications, there’s no exact reasoning behind why AMD would be repurposing outdated hardware to sell exclusively to OEM partners and the Chinese outside of having a large enough influx of supply that they seemingly need to get rid of pronto.
It is important to mention that the current reviews available are from Chinese media outlets:
Furthermore, manufacturers such as XFX, PowerColor, Sapphire, and others are introducing various custom models. It appears that there is no reference design planned for these cards, so the models showcased in promotional materials are purely for marketing purposes.
AMD themselves are touting these GPUs at being budget friendly 1440p graphics cards, which is understandable given how even NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 is easily humbled by the older Radeon RX 6700 XT.
While the current pricing for an 8GB RTX 4060 costs just $299 theoretically Chinese gamers can now grab themselves a bargain with far superior performance and greater memory capacity for “$289”.
Why announce entirely new products instead of just announcing universal price cuts for the RX 6700 and 6700 XT? I don’t really know, maybe AMD were potentially trying to garner as little media attention as possible right now given the “rebrand” nature of these graphics cards especially after their reputation has taken a considerable hit following the issues with Anti-Lag+ resulting in numerous game bans.
Or maybe AMD just wants money, and what better way than to make money than to sell old, outdated wares with excess supply by sending them over to a country that has over 1.4 billion inhabitants.
Should’ve just fucking announced a price cut but I guess that would make the already worthless $270 RX 7600 even more of a retarded product that absolutely nobody should buy.
